Los Altos Falls to M-Town

(Hacienda Heights) – Monrovia was too much for host Los Altos 22-14, Friday night.

The game featured quick strike abilities, by each team, as well as major lapses in scoring. Each team scored on its first possession of the contest. Monrovia started the scoring with a 30 yard TD run by Lawrence Spicer that occurred only two minutes in.

Los Altos answered as Michael Salcedo found the end zone with 7:27 remaining in the first quarter of play. This would be all of the scoring for the remainder of the half, as the teams went to their respective locker rooms tied at seven.

The second half began in the same fashion as the first with both teams scoring on the first possession. Los Altos began this display, as Tyler Nevens ran 80 yards for the go ahead score just 14 seconds into the quarter.

Monrovia responded as Spicer again found the end zone on a 50 yard score just 18 seconds later. Monrovia added another score, a 17 yard TD pass from Asaph Zamora to Jermaine Bias as the Cats led 20-14 after three.

The Wildcats maintained possession in the final quarter for 9:28. Los Altos had one final attempt with less that a minute remaining in the game. However, this fell short quarterback Michael Campbell was tackled in the end zone for a Safety.
