Linfield Burns Maranatha Down, 45-0

(Pasadena)—Linfield Christian all everything playmaker Lorenzo Burns torched Maranatha with scoring runs of 63 and 37-yards in the first half as the Lions took a 45-0 victory on Friday night.

Before the Burns fire was lit, Linfield opened the contest with a 80 yard, 12-play drive that was capped off by Zac Archer’s 3-yard touchdown run. The march gobbled up 7:06 off the first quarter clock and the Minutemen never recovered.

Maranatha struggled throughout the game. Quarterback Marco Martinez missed on his first ten passes, completed just five of 20, and was picked off three times in the second half. The running game was non-existent managing just 44 yards on the ground.

***The Minutemen went three and out on its first five possessions.

***Lions kicker Michael Brown booted a 53-yard field goal with 8:03 to play in the second quarter.

***Minuteman quarterback Marco Martines led his team in rushing with 37 yards on seven carries.

***The Lions Zac Archer rushed for 120 yards on 22 carries and two touchdowns.

***Maranatha ran several wildcat formations with Dexter Myers at quarterback.

***Linfield Christians Simeon Burns intercepted two passes, Greg Holt one.

***The Minutemen fell to 2-3 and travel to Duarte next week.

***The Lions improved to 5-0 and face a bye next week.
