(Bell Gardens) – Margarito Beltran, who was dismissed as the La Serna head coach the week before the season started, landed as the head coach at Bell Gardens Monday.
“I’m very excited to be going to BG. I’m looking forward to it,” Beltran said. “BG has gone above and beyond for me and I’m happy for the opportunity.”
Beltran won a Southeast title as the HC at La Serna in 2013 and appeared in three consecutive CIF championship games from 2011 through 2013.
Beltran plans to run the same offense that he ran at La Serna and will work with some of the same assistants.
“They’re not getting the copy, they’re getting the original,” Beltran said of the program. “It’s going to be a lot of work but if there’s one thing about me and my assistant coaches, we’re not afraid of hard work.”
Beltran will also be teaching at Bell Gardens.
“The plan is for me to be on campus some time in February,” Beltran added.
Bell Gardens finished 6-4 overall in 2015 (3-2 in the Almont League) and missed the playoffs.
Beltran takes over for Geoff Ackerman who stepped down when the season ended.
According to the findings by Whittier PD and the LAC D.A. Office, there was no evidence of wrong doing in the incident w/a special needs student.
This smells fishy and it is best that Mr. Beltran moved on! So much for more drama on the hill in Friendly Hills.
Good Start
Keep up!
Looks like he did lots of good things at La Serna, but BG doesn’t work…I think he would have been a good hire at Temple City that needs more help or Mark Keppel…bring the SEM staff to assist at temple City too…
