Rebels Repel Titans

By Corey Kwok

(Flintridge Prep) — Kendall Kikkawa, who had seven points, collected a key steal that led to a Dante Fregoso bucket off of a Kole Hamane assist before Jake Althouse nailed a pair of free throws, all inside the final minute, to seal a 53-47 victory for host Flintridge Prep over San Marino.
Both Fregoso and Althouse, along with Andrew Tsangeos, all posted strong double-doubles for the Rebels.
Tsangeos led the way with 19 points, 7 of 8 free throws, 16 rebounds, three blocks, and a pair of steals. Althouse scored 14 points and snagged 10 boards with a block and two assists.
Reigning all-area boys volleyball player of the year Fregoso flexed his skills from that sport into hoops tonight and swatted out seven blocks to go with his 11 points, 16 rebounds, one steal, and an assist.

The Titans, down 45-37 after three quarters, were void of field goals in the fourth (0- 11), but wound up holding the Rebels scoreless for roughly half the period while steadily climbing to as close as within two points, all from the free throw line, where they hit 10 of 12 attempts.
Chuma Azinge scored 17 points, hauled off 10 rebounds, and added two blocks for San Marino, who was led in scoring by Austin Lee (9 of 12 free throws, 4 rebounds, 3 assists) with 19 points. Gio Shoushi added seven rebounds and four assists.
