1.) New York Yankees acquire Cincinnati Reds reliever Aroldis Chapman for prospects.

2.) Former Duarte Falcons trenchman (UCLA alum) Mike Harris has started 15 games at tackle for the Minnesota Vikings this season. Harris was undrafted out of UCLA in 2012. Spent two seasons with the Chargers and joined the Vikings in 2014.

3.) “Quick note: Gary Prestesater wins his 500th victory today with a win over Duarte. Congratulations Coach. Deserved.”—MVS commenter “Btbear”

5.) Former El Monte American catcher/South El Monte, St. Paul, Ohio University linebacker Joe Morales turns 27 today.

6.) Former Blair Vikings standout Sean Smith is in his seventh NFL season. Spending his first four with the Miami Dolphins and the last three with the Kansas City Chiefs. He has ten career interceptions playing cornerback.

7.) On this date in 2012 Gen. H. Norman Schwarzkopf died at the age of 78.

9.) Former MLB center fielder, and hero to Angels haters, Dave Henderson died on Sunday (December 27) at the age of 57 after suffering a massive heart attack. Henderson played for the Mariners, Red Sox, Giants, A’s, and Kansas City. The first ever pick for the expansion Seattle Mariners in 1977, Henderson’s biggest moment came in Game Five of the AL Championship Series in 1986 when he hit a two-out two-run homer off of Donnie Moore to tie the game at 6-6. The Red Sox would go on to win the game in 11-innings.
