(Pomona) – Diamond Ranch will be seeking its fourth coach in the last four years as Jimmy Welker is out after just one year sources confirmed late Friday.

Welker, who took over for Mario Gomez, who also spent one year as HC, went 7-4 overall last year. The Panthers fell to CIF Central Division Champion San Marino 35-21 in the first round of the playoffs.

Roddy Layton spent eight years at the D Ranch helm before stepping down after the 2013 season. No reason was given for Welker’s departure.

Oddly enough, Roddy Layton looks like the best coach possible at the dysfunctional institution known as Diamond Ranch. I believe a reasonable amount of time has passed since the HUDL incident, so the guy should be asked back.

Stop pumping up your head coach. He’s a good coach. Is that what you wanted to hear? Fine, you guys got a good coach. What difference does it make now that he’s at Chino. Let DR struggle just like you guys did before C got to Chino.

Monrovia only wants Monrovia kids, we don’t want ring chasers who leave on a whim! Peace out to all six Cowards and their very delusional parents. Leave room for real Monrovia players.

I hear Monrovia has their guy but are waiting for board approval before announcing. But kids are checking out for sure. Cathedral has landed two Wildcats maybe up to 6 kids leaving.

Are you guys hearing the Jim Singiser to Bonita and Diamond Ranch rumors?
I’m hearing he applied for Bonita and D-Ranch is reaching out to him. He would be huge at either place.

@FBfan: Not just outsiders, no one lasts that long. 2 years in a row is a career. Mama’s don’t let your sons grow up to be football coaches. No money, no job security, no respect, no family life, no nothin’. I think a lot of these men are just trying to continue to re-live and extend their high school years. Nothing else makes much sense.

Diamond Ranch administrators believe their school to be on par with the elite privates, and therefore feel they should have coaches similar to those at places like Mater Dei and SJB. Problem is, coaches of this caliber don’t work for peanuts, which is what the Panther people are throwing.

It’s kind of odd that the outsiders don’t last very long.
