Moore and Holle lead Spartans to Victory

(La Canada, Ca) – La Canada’s deadly three-point shooting in the first half enabled them to cruise to a 60-47 victory over Rio Hondo League rival Monrovia.

The Spartans used timely three-pointers by Rocky Moore and Mason Holle in the second quarter to go on a 15-6 run enroute to a nine-point lead at half.

After going toe-to-toe in the first quarter the Wildcats went cold from the field and watched La Canada score at will in the second quarter.

Moore’s back-to-back three-pointers with two minutes to play gave the Spartans a lead that was hard to overtake.

After last season’s thrilling finishes, La Canada left nothing in doubt in the second half as they extended the lead to as many as 22 points.

The Spartans had a balanced scoring attack with Mike McGlashan scoring 14, Moore 13 and Holle 12 in the victory.

Wildcats guard Jonathon Henderson tried to keep his team in the game by scoring nine of his game high 19 points in the third quarter.

Cold shooting in the final quarter didn’t help Monrovia get back on track as they went nearly seven minutes without a field goal.

The Wildcats did finish with a flurry as they closed the fourth quarter on a 10-1 run.

The loss drops Monrovia to 1-2 in league, while La Canada is still undefeated at 3-0.
