1.) Muir/USC alum Kevon Seymour makes NFL debut with the Buffalo Bills on Thursday night against the New York Jets.

2.) Former Whittier Christian tailback Garrett Fulbright turns 25.

3.) The Los Angeles Rams sign defensive tackle Michael Brockers to three-year contract extension.

4.) “Hahaha I like that! “TOUGH MEXICAN LEAGUE””—MVS commenter “Grimy”

5.) New York Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick throws for 374 yards, completing 24 of 34 passing, and one touchdown in Jets 37-31 victory over the Bills on Thursday night. Fitzpatrick was a seventh round pick of the St. Louis Rams in 2005.

6.) “I’m going to take La Canada in an upset over CV this week…”—MVS staffer Joe T. in “Fanview” yesterday…

7.) Former Los Angeles Dodger starting pitcher, Orel Hershiser turns 57 today.

8.) On September 16, 1981, welterweight boxer “Sugar” Ray Leonard knocks out Thomas Hearns in the 13th round to unify boxing’s middleweight title. Leonard was behind on all three judges’ scorecards and fighting with one eye closed when he delivered a right hand to his opponent’s head that sent Hearns crashing to the canvas.

9.) On this date in 1974 John Hadl threw a 19-yard touchdown pass to Bob Klein and Cullen Bryant returned a kickoff 84-yards for a touchdown as the Rams defeated the Denver Broncos 17-10 in Mile High Stadium. In his first four seasons with the Rams Bryant, who passed away in 2009, returned three kickoffs for touchdowns.
