(Hacienda Heights)— Tyler Nevens rushed for 174-yards on 21 carries and scored two touchdowns in Los Altos’ 42-34 win over Glendora Friday night at the new Patrick J. Mauch Memorial Stadium. 

It didn’t take long for the Conquerors to jump to an early lead. Going for an onside kick, Gil Vazquez scooped a fumble and scored 8-seconds into the first quarter. The Tartans tried to answer back on the ensuing possession but James Nolan fumbled turning over the ball back to Los Altos.

Nolan bounced back and scored the first touchdown for the Glendora early in the second quarter.

Los Altos returned the favor less than two minutes later after Kody Olmos hooked up with Andrew Manuele for a 60-yard touchdown. Right before the intermission, the Conquerors added a rushing score via Nevens to put the score up to 21-7.

However, Glendora took six plays to drive 80 yards to score. Bryce Wooldridge connected with Dylan Hill for the 15-yard touchdown pass and catch. The Tartans trailed 21-14 at the break.

Following intermission Glendora tried to continue their momentum but on the Tartans opening possession of the second half. Anthony Lopez picked off Wooldridge’s pass and returned it for the score. Wooldridge bounced back from the pick-six to lead the Tartan offense to paydirt when he scrambled his was to end zone.

Los Altos lead 28-20 after the point after attempt was missed by Glendora.

Right before the third quarter ended, the Conquerors took seven plays covering 55-yards to tally Nevens’ second rushing score of the night. The Tartans responded on their ensuing possession after Wooldridge connected with Hill for the second time.

Following the touchdown, Los Altos answered right back when Nick Gonzales bulldozed his way into the end zone. The Conquerors lead 42-26 late in the fourth stanza. Glendora rallied and scored quickly with 1:43 remaining making it and 8-point game but failed to recover the onside kick.
