Los Altos running into a big game with Diamond Ranch

All kickoffs are at 7:00 p.m. unless otherwise indicted.

Thursday, October 6

Hoover (3-2) at Burbank (3-2)
Last 12 Meetings: Burbank, 12-0
Last Year: Burbank, 49-0
The Tornadoes started the season 3-0, they have a nice running back in Quinton Smith. So you have to avoid the argument tat they are the same old Hoover…However, they are 0-2 in the Pacific and things don’t look to get better. Guy Gibbs, Forest Farajado, Nicolas Warren, a great coaching staff, and a bigger than usual offensive line makes Burbank contenders for at minimum a second round CIF appearance. The Bulldogs in this contest have only themselves to fear.
Burbank 51 Hoover 12

Friday October 7

La Salle (4-1) at St. Francis (5-0)

Great matchup to kick off Angelus League action. The Lancers have been rolling with their only loss coming at the hands of Bishop Diego. La Salle has crushed the likes of El Camino Real, Monrovia and Muir. The Golden Knights haven’t lost to anybody and are coming of a huge win over Buena Park. St. Francis will need to shut down Amon Milliner who has rushed for over 1000 yards already. The Lancer running attack has been devastating. St. Francis relies on the arm of Michael Bonds who has thrown for over 800 yards and 11 touchdowns. La Salle could pull something but in the end St. Francis should prevail in front of the home crowd. The Knights will stay golden.

Charter Oak (5-0) at West Covina (3-2)

Big game for West Covina. If the Bulldogs can win this one they can beat anybody in the Hacienda. With Charter Oak quarterback Brett Clemetson out with a broken collarbone they have a shot but back up Zack Niccoli has stepped up to fill in admirably for the Chargers. The M.O for Mike Maggiore’s crew will be to pound the ball and try to chew up the clock. If they can keep the ball away from the C.O. offense long enough they might steal one in the fourth quarter. That’s going to be a tough task. The Chargers are explosive even without Clemetson. They have plenty of other weapons as was shown two weeks ago with 35 points against South Hills. West Covina will stay it in for as long as possible, but when the Chargers get the ball, they’ll take advantage. Charter Oak stays unbeaten.

Arcadia (5-0) at Burroughs (3-2)

Arcadia needs another win here to show it is serious about winning the Pacific. Sure the Apaches beat Pasadena and Muir but the critics say both those teams are down this year. Burroughs has beaten up its first two Pacific league opponents 103-29. The Indians hung 48 on Pasadena while Arcadia could only muster 10 against the Bulldogs. Beating Burroughs on the road will be a tall mountain for Arcadia to climb. The Apaches have met every challenge presented to them so far but this one will be a little too much. Burroughs gets out in front early and stays in control throughout. Arcadia loses its first.

Diamond Ranch (3-2) at Los Altos (5-0)

The Conquerors are rolling on offense led by Tyler Nevens’ 1,072 yards and 19 scores but the defense led by Gil Vasquez is doing their part as well. Diamond Ranch has played well against solid competition this year. The Panthers may keep it close early but the Los Altos O-line and Nevens will take its toll.

Cathedral (5-0) at St. Paul (2-3)

The Phantoms and Swordsmen are headed in opposite directions. Catherals offense is hitting on all cylinders and the defense is holding opponents at bay. St. Paul on the other hand has had to deal with two forfeits and their wins have been against less than stellar opponents. It will be over early!

Arroyo (5-1) at El Monte (4-2)

After an 0-2 start the Lions have won four straight. The wins haven’t come against world beaters but a win is a win and that builds confidence. Will that confidence rise enough to challenge the Knights? Not this time! Arroyo has settled in with Ernesto Camacho at quarterback and on defense are holding opponents to under 13 points per game (which includes the 39 points to allowed to Hart).

Northview (4-1) vs. Covina (3-2) at Covina District Stadium
The Vikings are on a roll and the Colts are looking for a signature win. C-Town is not going to get it playing against their city rivals. Steven Comstock and Antwuan Ayers make Northview a favorite Friday night…a big favorite. Look for this to be over early.

Whittier Christian (4-2) vs. Heritage Christian (4-2) at Granada Hills
The Warriors have won the last two meetings between these schools but this year is going tobe different. The Heralds offense is clicking and they should be able to get back on top against HC. Justin Osborne has rushed for 812 yards, quarterback Quinn Commans has thrown 27 touchdowns, and Cade McGee has caught 40 passes and scored 11 touchdowns. They won’t be stopped.
