1. The USC basketball team is off to a 4-0 start.

2. The NHL’s newest team will be called the Vegas Golden Knights and are to start play in the 2017-’18 season.

3. Kevin Love scores an NBA record 34 points in the first quarter and finished with 40 to lead the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 137-125 win over the Portland Trailblazers Wednesday night.

4. Pittsburgh Steelers running back Karlos Williams is suspended 10 games for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy.

5. Former Brooklyn Dodgers pitcher Ralph Branca, who gave up the home run to the New York Giants Bobby Thomson, the “Shot Heard Round the World”, that cost the Dodgers the National League pennant in 1951, passed away at the age of 90.

6. The Houston Astros finalize a four-year, $52 million deal with outfielder Josh Reddick.

7. The Golden State Warriors rack up 80 points in the first half and go on to beat the Lakers 149-106 Wednesday night.

8. The Los Angeles Clippers beat the Dallas Mavericks 124-104 Wednesday night to improve to 14-2 on the year.

9. “The school is excited about the team. We had more people at last week’s game than the home team. This week Rancho Christian is a well coached team. They have young players that are very quick. We are going to do our best. It’s a great group of young men here at South.
