Looks like they also just lost a coach. Big loss this coach is what kept the fire going.
Montebello lost of a lot of players this season and it will be very difficult for them to repeat the same success they had this past year.
I watched the Oilers play and they lacked one thing…. SPEED! The need some speed on offense. Without it they become a quarterfinal rounds playoff team (again).
Montebello would crush SEM with or without those players. As a matter of fact Montebello would beat any team in the Mission Valley League. Montebello has better players and more importantly better coaches.
Send the kid to BG they can use a good running back Lol….
Kevin Rivas is a clown…
He is a RB his dad wants him to have carries.
He not going to SEM. SEM does not throw the ball.
I can think of a few neighboring programs that are 10x better places for him, SEM had a good year but simply played absolute garbage opponents. Good luck if he goes to SEM he won’t beat Arroyo.
Anyone wanna put money that he ends up at South El Monte. The dad is friends with frank
Schur to Downey to montebello to……wow!
@hehe-(not really at you but just addressing that mentality)
You know there was a time when it was about just good old football and beating the guy in front of you,the bus rides to and from the game,hell week,execution and most importantly the memories you share with the team on and off the field.Also creating good young productive kids with a work ethic.
I think the football program at Montebello today does that very well.It reminds me of the program of old working as a team and unselfish.
**area spectator kinda had it right with the whole thing about parents ruining the sport/game.(not all parents) and not necessarily at all programs either.
(Not to take away from any programs that didn’t win a ring)As far as getting a ring…well that is a very tough task.You have to have an entire program to sell out mentally and physically and your roster better be stacked with hungry lions…
I’m proud of the coaches and team at Montebello they had a great season.
And much respect to all coaches and teams making sacrifices out there so our kids can have something positive and learn and grow from these experiences….
Everybody have a good day and a good off season and thank you midvalleysports for sharing the video It was a great season for us
I’m sure the kid wants to win a cif championship and realizes that last year was the best chance MHS had to win one. This year the Oilers will only add to another year of not winning a ring. He’s ring chasing that’s all guys
You would think the smart thing to do here is focus on the player and good things of your program! And then again parents and others can’t believe why so many coaches are resigning and are seeing its not worth the headaches anymore! Grow up people! Learn to support not gossip about kids or parents you have no idea about!
You guys are all idiots on here. Isn’t this supposed to be a positive thing for the MHS program? A nice highlight video of one of your players who had a wonderful season! Instead some person comes on here, says he thinks it’s a rumor and you Montebello people can’t control yourselves from letting those fingers hit the keyboard! Hahaha and one of the ones commenting is this players father as he has stated in other threads on here. You don’t know because if you did you wouldn’t need to speculate in here! Really
K-Rod? Vital?
Transfer?
Who cares! We all know who everyone is talking about. He’s a fantastic player but the school will move on with or without him. It takes 11 players. Not 10! MHS is at a point where it’s all about the program now. Any individual who thinks different can move on. As for that ” player”, I hope he stays and sees it through. Make a commitment to yourself and your team is what really matters! Any kid that transfers to three different schools in four years obviously has issue beyond football. I hope he makes the right decision to stay and finish his HS career where he belongs.. Oilerville!!
The kid is fragile and was unable to play, the team made it the semi’s. what else does the dad want? His kid gets hurt and can’t play and that’s the coaches fault??
Well if it’s who everyone thinks it is I wish them well I really like the kid and parents and hope they reconsider..if it’s even true or not
utr will make a video for anyone! Sheesh
Whos next the waterboy
Not going to pretend like I know what’s going on at Montebello, but usually when a player transfers to your school and then transfers to another one, it’s often because he’s a “me guy” or even someone who can create tension among a team and its locker room. At the same time, coaches who actively chase these kids can unknowingly create unwanted cancerous behavior within the team. For most public high school teams, it’s much better just to play with the guys who want to be at the school.
Here’s where it hurts. If he leaves you know he will be taking that other someone with them.
@spectator
“Really” is correct it’s been a rumor and known about several weeks prior to the end of the season…..
Spectator….,,say it ain’t so the players dad is not happy with the coaches. So this will make it his 4th transfer. Lol. You didn’t say who it is and we all know who your talking about.
@spectator
If that’s the truth it will be his loss. Next man up.
Rumor has it that the Oilers are losing a key player. A player who goes both ways. It is in the works now.
It will be a tough season and looking forward to seeing the ranch again
@The Ranch, Rodriguez can definitely sling it, but has a lot to prove, Moeler I would call a dual threat kind of QB, he could surprise some people and take this job. I did hear Ledesma is coming along although the Wing-T will just be an added wrinkle to an already dynamic offense. Lots of good kids back for ER should make for a great game. Nice to see Montebello and BG traditional rivalries on the schedule, Montebello will be tough and BG should be improved.
I’m glad the game is back too. Lots of respect for Montebello. With this QB coming back and the Chandler/Huerta duo gone, it will be a challenge. IMO we got to change the offense with Weeks and vela in the backfield and no QB. Hearing Ledesma is going to be OC and bringing the wing with him.
Week 4 cantwell
Bye week
Alhambra
Schurr
Keppel
SG
BG
Glad ER vs Montebello rivalry is back.
Oilerparent I believe you left off that power down the street…Cantwell. Aren’t you guys playing them as well?
Wow better let’s c this year
@captain philips ;0)
Week 0 Garfield
Week 1 St. Paul
Week 2 Whittier
Week 3 el Rancho
If the coach would schedule up I would be like wow but if he plays El monte that’s like last year then not 2 good …. Get it right not hatting good player ok Oiler people but if Montebello would play like a LA Serna or Arcadia then I would even put on A Montebello jersey but tell Coach Pete the kids look good in the season but then they get schools like from Moreno Valley who schedule up then what happens Excuces from Montebello people come on give these good kids a good schedule not a JV schedule
