Most of the kids at hawkins high were unknown when they got there milvon coached them up. The city section city had it out for Hawkins high.

Hawkins had to forfeit two season’s because of Academic Violations. City Commissioner John Aguirre almost shut them down in the 3rd year. That’s why Milvon James had success at Hawkins. They are done now. He won’t bring any Kids to San Gabriel.

Any truth to the Coach Oritz to Wilson H.H. comment. I think he can finally turn that place around.

Augustus Hawkins High School is in LAUSD; it’s named after a longtime congressman who represented the South-Central/Southwest L.A. area.
The school’s athletic teams compete in the L.A. City Section, and the football team, which was coached until recently by Mr. James, has had considerable success playing in Division II.
However, as others have commented, he left his coaching job at Hawkins amid allegations of rule violations.

Yes, Keith Jones is still at San Gabriel High, and he’s still the athletic director there. I saw him at the Alhambra School District headquarters just last Friday. He’s in good spirits and is hoping for the best.

There are about 25 schools in the MVS area without football coaches. Many were and are quality programs like Compton Centennial, Dominguez, Wilson, Troy, Chino and yes San Gabriel. Looks like admins have gotten together to start to break apart football for reasons of their own like the mafia does.

Is Jones still the AD at SG? It must be tough for him to see the program he brought back from the dead, return to the grave.

If it’s true that some area publics are quietly dishing $25k stipends to head football coaches, I strongly second the notion that, while it’s still not enough, it’s a good start. The ideal way to handle this matter would be to fire one administrator from each school, give 50% of the saved salary to the HC, 25% of it to the assistants, and the remaining 25% to the staff at MVS, with the understanding that I get an annual kickback of $50k for arranging the deal.

San Gabriel is a bad place for two reasons:
    1. Administration is none supportive
    2. Title Nine fundraising – something to do with fundraising being split with all sports

-No admin support from new principle ,
-New coaches don’t know how to recruit area kids
    -Booster moms aren’t allowed
-Snack bar which is crucial income is ALL given to school
-little interest(students) from a school with large attendance
That’s about it, community cares, alumni care, moms care , they all do cause they nowthat potential can be brought out in the program

Trust me ,and I mean TRUST me, that guy wanted to quit every single day even before the first season and he let it be known, I don’t blame him for it who wouldn’t, look at the state program. So short story , no coach is better then wasting money on someone who counted his days.
