Such a Choreography! Walnut players stretch prior to a match in the Bonita Passing Tourney last summer.

Good Afternoon!

T-Minus-191 Days until “The Mid Valley Classic”

Let’s play; “Who Doesn’t Belong”

(I’ll give a list of four, you tell me who doesn’t belong): Question: Who doesn’t fit in CIF’s Northwest Division?: Serra, Oaks Christian, La Salle, Harvard-Westlake.

Mmmm? Might need time to think about that one.

Speaking of free agency new San Gabriel HC Jude Oliva said after Keith Jones resigned at SG he fielded 15 offers, from 15 different schools to join their staffs. I don’t think Reggie Jackson generated that much interest back in the early days of free agency.

Oh, what a disaster last night was… We owe an apology to all things La Salle.

I also feel bad for Covina girls basketball HC Matt Kearns and his star performer Jackie Ford. They were scheduled first on last night’s show when everything from computers and internet connection blew up…I smell a Robledo…(Just kidding)… But I don’t feel too bad. Football HC Darryl Thomas gave some Colts gear to Kearns for him to bring down to the Mid Valley office… Kearns forgot the stuff… That is bad mojo… Thus, most likely, the cause for the ghost in the machine Tuesday evening.

The Kansas City Chiefs have signed free agent quarterback Tyler Palko…that has championship written all over it.

With Michael Ball returning for his third season as Rowland’s starting quarterback, you have to wonder who the feature back is going to be behind him.

In 2008 Brandon Stansell was electric and last season Josh Onovughe did a great job first taking pressure off Ball and then carrying the offense after Ball’s injury.

As of right now there is no obvious replacement, but Craig Snyder, if he wants to reach deep, has a slew of sophomores to select from.

Bigger question for Snyder is how much defense does the talented Ball play?

Note to City of Pasadena: Keep the Greenpeacers from assaulting people in front of your shops…I’m tired of always having to say “Drill Baby Drill!”

Matt Koffler expressed no disappointment at not getting the San Gabriel gig.

La Salle pitcher Allie Forillo wants to pitch against me on camera… I understand…Let’s bring old Joe T. down in front of millions… But what if I get a hit? What if I turn on a fastball? What if I ‘Dial 8’? Go yard? What if I end up costing her a scholarship? I couldn’t live with myself… I’m also fond of my teeth… Need to think about this one…

In what has turned into the third best day of every summer— the first being the Fourth of July, the second being the Sunday I leave for vacation— the SGV Shootout will be held at Arroyo July 10.

Featured performers will be: Arroyo, Rosemead, South El Monte, El Monte, West Covina, Rowland, Whittier Christian, Monrovia, San Dimas, Covina, Northview, Baldwin Park, Wilson, Azusa, La Puente, Gladstone, Buena Park, Diamond Bar.

I should send His Arroyo Baldness a check for putting that roster together. All of these teams are relevant to area football, even Buena Park. It will be interesting to see the kind of hand Anthony White dealt himself.

Connected with San Marino’s Mike Mooney today for the first time in a while… I hadn’t heard from him since December and began to think I made one too many jokes about The Moon Man and the second round of CIF.

Passing tournaments like this one and the Bonita toss around are more entertaining and interesting than the all-star games.

I do like the all-star games, but passing leagues give you great access to players and coaches.

Whatever happened to St. John’s? Walter Berry? Willie Glass?

Last Add Covina: Kearns and Ford have been rescheduled for the March 16th show.

Stay thirsty my friends…
