The Devil Made Me Do It

You can thank Joe Torosian for my return.  JT decided to call me out on his story , yesterday.

This column when written will also take the place of Andy’s Rants as well.  Not going to do that HD-lite stuff.

There is a reason why I am called the “sinister one” and my brother made sure I heard how mad I made the San Gabriel faithful last season.

To be honest, my brother is the biggest homer you will find for Matador football, but agreed on my take of Isaac Valdez to a point.  He also said that I like to be the one who will tell you “the sky is red” when it’s blue.

Last add Valdez, I just think the lack of a running game really hurt him.   All defensive backs had to do was lock onto a receiver, the linebackers could spy Ike and you had some serious issues with timing.

But I have no idea what I am talking about, even though I was with a professional team for ten years and watched enough game film to see certain things in a player.

My hats off to the Brewers and Giants, both teams knew what would happen when Prince Fielder came to the plate to face Barry Zito.  It was nice to see the “code” followed.

Although creative, Fielder’s “bowling ball strike” should have been done at Miller Park and not AT&T Park.  Just seemed a little to showing up to me.

On the other hand, do we really believe that Prince actually felt that pitch Zito threw?  Torosian would stand in the box against Barry before facing La Salle’s Allie Forillo.

Congratulations to Baylor’s super freshman Brittney Griner for acting like an NBA player.  Her nose-breaking punch made the National sports scene for all the wrong reasons.

Griner should be suspended for the remainder of the season and she needs to get some anger-management courses.

My favorite comment came from the Big 12 commissioner Dan Beebe when he said, “Due to the severity of the act, it is appropriate that Ms. Griner is suspended for an additional game.”  Nice.

Poor Jordan Barncastle (the recipient of said punch) might miss the remainder of the season and Griner gets the equivalent of a slap on the wrist.

So she misses the remaining game this season and one conference tournament game.  Big Whoop!

Beebe needs to grow a pair and do what is just.

See you all tomorrow!
