The TEN

(“The TEN” is not a top ten but ten items worth being included in “The TEN”)

1.) Longtime El Monte P.E. Teacher/Football-Basketball Coach Dave Brooks (retired) passes away.

2.) Temple City Alum/NFL Alum (49ers/Vikings) Kent Kramer turns 73 today.

3.) “There seems to be little enforcement of transfer rules unless some coach screams foul. If a kid transfers it can be protested by any coach in the division. Schools that decline to field a team must release an athlete and allow them to transfer to any school to further their opportunity to play.”—MVS commenter “?”

4.) Longtime Rosemead Rebel coach/High School football aficionado, Paul Barraza turns…???…today.

5.) “Mid valley,
Don’t make the same mistake as the other guys and leave Muir out of the top 25.”—MVS commenter “Stang”

6.) Los Angeles Dodgers designated RHP Sergio Romo for assignment.

7.) Rosemead at South Pasadena (7:00pm) Friday, August 25

8.) Famous for her goal celebration for the penalty kick that won the 1999 Women’s World Cup, U.S soccer star Brandy Chastain turns 49 today.

9.) The Carolina Panthers have terminated the contract of (Blindside) OT Michael Oher.

10.) NBC/ESPN report that the Los Angeles Lakers have met with Derrick Rose as a possible backup point guard. Rose, after missing only six games his first three seasons, missed all of the 2012-2013 campaign and has not played in 80 games since. He played in 64 games for the New York Knicks in 2016-2017 and averaged 18 points. Rose turns 29 in October.

Trust me, just a small fraction of it is “genius.” It’s mostly hard work and doing your best to keep your facts straight.
    Have a peaceful summer…

Who is the clown calling the shots for the Lakers now? Can they sign some more guards?

There is absolutely no truth to that rumor. (Or, should I say, disinformation?) Coach Bergstrom will be staying put at Alhambra High School.
