Titan Town Too Much For EM

The game between San Marino & El Monte was as close as this picture indicates.

(San Marino)–San Marino quarterback Blake Cabot rushed for three touchdowns and threw for another as the Titans built a 40-0 first half lead and beat El Monte 47-0 on Friday night.

Cabot scored on a 62-yard keeper up the middle on the game’s first play from scrimmage.

The Lions responded with a 14-play drive that reached the San Marino 12 before they turned the ball over on downs. This was El Monte’s high-water mark for the evening.

After the team’s traded punts, Cabot struck again up the middle before sprinting down the north sideline for a 14-0 Titans lead.

And the rout was on.

With 9:12 to play in the second Cabot went 25-yards to Dereck Gerhardt and hit paydirt. Fifty seconds and a lost Lions fumble later, Beau Hobbie raced 14-yards to the corner pylon, and it was a 27-0 contest.

Four minutes later Hobbie–a popular name around San Marino–went 43-yards through the El Monte defense to make it 33-0. Then with 47-seconds left in the half Cabot moved the game into the realm of the running clock with another 13-yard scoring run.

The win improved the Titans to 2-1 on the season while El Monte fell to 1-2.

It looks like ground and pound got pummeled. At least we are getting a new stadium for the next coach.
