The top seven teams all won so there wasn’t a lot of movement there. After that however there were plenty of changes heading into Week Three
1. Cathedral (3-0) – Phantoms continue to roll.
2. Sierra Canyon (2-1) – Another big win for Trailblazers.
3. Charter Oak (3-0) – Chargers still haven’t been threatened.
4. Crescenta Valley (2-0) – Falcons with impressive win over Golden Valley.
5. St. Francis (2-0) – Golden Knights brush aside Pasadena.
6. Downey (2-1) – Vikings four touchdown win over Burbank.
7. La Serna (2-1) – Lancers take care of Mira Costa.
8. Arroyo (3-0) – Knights pass biggest test so far.
9. Los Altos (3-0) – Conquerors still unbeaten after victory over St. Paul.
10. South Hills (2-0) – Huskies are truly the King of Cameron.
11. Mayfair (3-0) – Monsoons take home the milk bucket in win over Lakewood.
12. Glendora (1-2) – Tartans no match for Charter Oak.
13. Northview (2-1) – Vikes beat Santa Fe, but it wasn’t easy.
14. San Dimas (1-2) – Saints have struggled since the Smudgepot.
15. Muir (2-0) – We’ll know about Muir after La Salle this week.
16. La Mirada (0-3) – Are Mats still the best team in the Suburban?
17. Schurr (2-1) – Spartans couldn’t penetrate Arroyo D.
18. Montebello (2-1) – Oilers win a shootout; El Rancho this week.
19. Norwalk (3-0) – Lancers beat Bell Gardens for third straight.
20. Maranatha (3-0) – Minutemen crack the Top 20 with third straight victory.
I rather have st.francis over the mtown. Better competition for the league. St.francis would be the league favorite but I think this year Muir and CV could compete and win.
The pacific should drop Glendale and Hoover. No rivalries would be disturbed. Keep the league at 6 teams. And it allows one more non league game. Each of the remaining 6 teams schedule tough non league teams. ( muir schedule is questionable the last 2 season but usually the schedule up)By doing this would give pacific a strength in playoff voting.
Arroyo stays in MVL…. They run the show why would they leave? What’s in it for them? As for all the other sports…. MVL isn’t great, average at best.
Arroyo- Football, Baseball, Wrestling, Track
EM- Girls Basketball, Volleyball and Girls Wrestling
South- Football, baseball
Gabrielino- Girls basketball, boys basketball, volleyball
Mountain View, Rosemead, Marshall are all losing their ability to compete in any sport honestly.
Hang up the keyboard buddie. Your opinion is irrelevant! 60s hair due!!!!!!!
@Hacienda,
I agree with you. Arroyo would get pounded in each league. But the problem with moving Arroyo isn’t football. It’s every other sport. There’s an outside chance that maybe they can compete in the VVL in football. But in all other sports they get embarrassed. And that’s what you have to look at. And EMUSD is not going to sign off on separating one of there member schools. There in lies the problem.
@fridayknighta That was the most ridiculous statement you have ever said. Arroyo would only beat Walnut and would get demolished by everyone else in the Hacienda. Arroyo would battle with Baldwin Park and Covina for the last playoff spot in the Valle Vista because they would get blasted by San Dimas and Northview.
Anonymous- How about a collaboration of the the two leagues, and just make them a “conference.” Then divide the conference into an A-League and a B-League for each sport. For example:
Football
A-League: Monrovia, San Marino, Arcadia, Burbank, Burroughs, Muir
B-League: Blair (well…maybe not), LC, South Pas, TC, Glendale, Hoover, Pasadena
In order to preserve rivalry games like the Turkey Tussle, each league would be scheduled to play one team from the opposite league, and it wouldn’t count towards league standings. It’d just be a non-league game.
If a team does well in the B-League, they’d move up. Conversely, if a team didn’t do so well in the A-League, they’d move down.
I think if you removed Charter Oak Arroyo can hang in the Hacienda league. Maybe move Arroyo and Monrovia into the Hacienda remove Walnut and Charter Oak?
They look good, the boys are working their butts off everyday!
@ Friday Knights
Crescenta Valley and Arcadia are arch rivals so…. not going to happen
I’m all for Arroyo moving into a tougher league. I think it’s time as well. What league would we fit in? The Valle vista? I’ve heard the Hacienda? Create a new league… Monrovia San Marino Arroyo Rosemead Temple city and Arcadia
What do y’all think?
Put Arroyo in Valle Vista and Baldwin Park in Mission Valley.
@sgvfan
Excellent point. It’s about time Arroyo gets put to the test and moves to a more competitive league/division
Covina should be at least behind northview on this team. Only competitive team arroyo has faced. And have blown out everyone since
Not sure any Mission Valley team belongs in the Top 20. Sorry Arroyo but zero comp. in your league. Maybe time to consider swimming over to the deep end of the pool…just sayin
Conquerors! The boys who have to beat their opponents and the refs. Let’s get it boys.
