Game Night: Week 9

San Dimas running into a big Thursday night game against Northview

All Kickoffs are at 7:00 p.m. unless otherwise indicated:

Thursday October 26

Valle Vista

San Dimas (5-3) at Northview (6-2) – Covina District Field
Last Year; Northview 49-34
San Dimas needs a win to force a possible three-way tie in the Valle Vista. Having already lost to Covina, another defeat would land the Saints in third place. Northview is trying to run the league table with another victory. The scoreboard operator should be busy as both teams can score. The Vikings defense ultimately will make the stops necessary late. Northview remains unbeaten in league.
Northview 38 San Dimas 28

Friday October 27

Almont

Bell Gardens (5-3) at Schurr (7-1)
Last Year; Schurr 68-13
Some people think Bell Gardens can ‘pull’ something. Most specifically Lancer fans. With both teams coming in undefeated in the Almont, BG will have to pull something to win the league title. Schurr already took care of rival Montebello and is looking to finish it off with Bell Gardens. Schurr’s offense can be explosive and the defense can make stops when necessary, as it did in the win over the Oilers. BG will compete for awhile but in the end the Lancers will run out of gas. Schurr gets the W.
Schurr 34 Bell Gardens 21

**

Del Rio

El Rancho (3-5) at La Serna (4-4) (California)
Last Year; La Serna 49-23
The Dons loss to Santa Fe last week was painful but if they can beat La Serna this week and get by Whittier in Week 10 they would finish at 3-2 in the Del Rio and have an outside shot at playoffs. La Serna also needs a win to secure a second place finish in league. La Serna looked like itself last week in a big win over Whittier. The Lancers should keep the momentum going against ER. The Dons will fight but eventually they will fall. La Serna puts them away in the second half. Lancers win by a touchdown.
La Serna 24 El Rancho 17

**

Mission Valley

El Monte (5-3) at South El Monte (7-1)
Last Year; South El Monte 19-0
South is two points away from being undefeated. Griffin Bowl is always a great rivalry game but the Eagles will own this one and make a run in the Division 12 playoffs. SEM gets the W.

South El Monte 34 El Monte 14

**

Pacific

Muir (5-3) at Burbank (6-2) (Burroughs)
Last Year; Burbank 38-14

Burbank isn’t about to let Muir get in the way of a Pacific League title.  When the Bulldogs beat CV last week they wrapped up the league. Bulldogs may end this one early. Burbank rolls.

Burbank 35 Muir 10

**

Rio Hondo

Monrovia (2-6) at San Marino (6-1)
Last Year; Monrovia 14-7

Everybody thought these two would play for the Rio Hondo title but nobody thought Monrovia would be 2-6. Meanwhile San Marino has reeled off six straight after losing in Zero Week. Monrovia may have a break out game but it won’t be this week. Titans claim the Rio.

San Marino 38 Monrovia 21

**

San Gabriel Valley

Downey (6-2) at Warren (5-3)
Last Year; Downey 42-35

Great atmosphere. The crowd is capacity every year in this one regardless of where it’s played. Downey has scored 124 points in its last two games after a loss to Paramount while Warren has allowed 96 in the same span. Not a recipe for success if you’re a Bears fan. Vikes roll.

Downey 42 Warren 17

**

Montview

Workman (3-5) at Azusa (4-4) (Citrus College)
Last Year; Azusa 30-6

A win for Azusa would set up a Montview League championship next week with Nogales. The Aztecs won’t let that get away. They won’t be looking past the Lobos. Azusa gets the victory.

Azusa 37 Workman 7

For any of the Lower Level chest thumpers, Bonita’s Sophs were a 1 loss team & the Jrs were undefeated. And I hate to say it, but the program is in trouble.

BG….lower levels? Your predicting a programs future because of lower levels? LOL. Well bud, your lower levels weren’t too impressive. Only level that counts is Varsity. Why dont you all give it a rest already? Did i miss something? Did some all star player check into BG? You have the same players as last season…Schurr does too. I predict the Schurr JV team will be on the field the 2nd half. Sit back tonight and enjoy the show.

Fantastic game. San Dimas came out fired up and sustained it all the way through. They definitely wanted it more. Yes, Comstock “as good as advertised.” If you didn’t attend this game, you missed out. Northview had a golden chance to steal the game in the end. Don’t be fooled though. San Dimas was in complete control all game long. And even If the score does not indicate it, San Dimas had timely and physical tackles. I was impressed with their physicality. If I recall correctly, San Dimas punted only once, and that was with 1 minute remaining in the 4th. The San Dimas playcalling was absolutely on the money, almost perfect. Northview had no answer defensively.

Comstock made some of the best throws I’ve seen all year. His receivers were unreliable early on, but proceeded to make many clutch catches as the game progressed. Many of Comstock ‘s completions came on crucial plays. That 53 yard bomb before the half with 4 seconds remaining was spectacular. Great job, both teams.

Great game. Couple things you can take from this game is San Dimas smartly went away from the wing T and featured Dylan Ware. #2 Dylan Ware is a man! #3 Steven Comstock is as good as advertised. # 4 NView got pushed around tonight. They lost this game in the trenches

From what I see Monrovia runs the ball way too much . If you continue to not pass the ball how do you expect to win . They have one of the best WRs in the valley basically I’m the Southern California according to scout.com and don’t use him . Alfonso Castillo I hear in enligible because of grades ? Thats a big loss for the cats . As a alumni I feel very embarrassed for monrovia . Fire coach Chou I’m sorry the seniors have to go thru this . 2-6 is unheard of for Monrovia . By the way I was on one of those championship teams they had a few years ago . Use you’re weapons coach stop trying to help one out by ruining the rest ! Muary and Washington will get theirs if they haven’t already got it now it’s time to let everybody else get theirs to win .

Score is 20-7 SD. Could easily be 28-7 had it not been for an interception that looked pretty wired. SD receiver caught the ball at the NV 10 but somehow lost it during the tackle to a NV DB. The saints were marching though.

San DImas dominating the trenches right now. That’s the difference here. If NView can’t adjust it’s gonna be a long night for the Vikings

San Dimas Surprisingly is going to a one back style running game. Spreading out the NView defense. Dylan Ware is tough runner. Comstock after trailing two scores, took it almost the entire way to score. Good game here tonight folks. Guy feeling tells me it’s gonna be one of those “interesting” nights.

Like is said. Babb is gonna be taken out cause we are gonna always have a safety over the top. Remigio isn’t even eligible so won’t have to worry about him. Schurr has no one else that we are scared of. Their defense isn’t good and will give up points in crucial parts of the game. Upset of the year BG 24 Schurr 21. Anyone that wants to take the bet I’ll bet whatever not scared have faith in my Lancers 2017 Almont League Champs. Beltran Coach of the year. I agree, I have witnessed decades of Downey Warren games. I have witnessed a 9-1 Warren team get beat by a 3-6 Downey team, I have also seen a 7-0 Downey team lose to a 2-5 Warren team. Last year was just the same 7-1 Downey vs 0-7-1 Warren where Downey should of blown them out but nope Downey had to score with 2 seconds left to win. If you haven’t been seen this rivalry its a bucket list game for sure. I promise the atmosphere alone will be well worth the money.

I strongly disagree with whoever is calling Downey-Warren 42-17 in the Vikes’ favor. Does this odds maker remember that Warren sucked even more last year, but still played Downey close? This particular high school game is unique, because it always has the feel of something BIGGER than a CIF title tilt. No way do the kids from both sides not let emotion lead them to a performance that defies the odds.
From T.Peterson: Actually it was a good call.
