New San Gabriel wide receivers coach Matt Lopez hanging out here with NFL Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson.

Good Afternoon!

T-Minus-164 Days until “The Mid Valley Classic”

A year ago it was San Gabriel assistants jumping over to Temple City. In 2010 just the opposite has happened with long time Rams assistant Matt Lopez leaving for SG.

“It was definitely hard to leave TC,” said Lopez. “But it was the right thing to do. I will be coaching with someone that I have always looked up to in Coach (Jude) Oliva.”

Lopez, a Temple City alum, will be coaching Matador wide receivers.

Do the newtork people want to see West Virginia play Butler?

Does anyone out there know who Bobby Plump is? He played for Butler, and on film he was portrayed as the fictional Jimmy Chitwood.

Steve Lavin wants the St. John’s job? What’s he thinking? He’s got the gig of a lifetime at ESPN.

Rooting for Butler but something tells me (the something being the presence of Tom Izzo) Michigan State is going to take the whole thing.

I have no emotional investment either way so I can afford to invoke Peterson’s Law: “Never pick a winner in print before the game is played.”

Note to Northview Fans: Sorry, I got nada. Tip on the school’s new football HC proved to be fruitless.

Tomorrow night on “The Mid Valley Sports Show”: Schurr’s pitch and catch battery of  Aaron Cantu and Carlos Arredondo, plus new San Gabriel HC Jude Oliva. Plus all that racing stuff at nine o’clock.

With the new healthcare system in place does that mean if the Dodgers get another Darren Dreifort, Washington will cover the bill?

The current poll for the Mid-Valley Division semifinal teams will come down later today and be replaced by a Southeast Division poll.

Monrovia, Schurr, and San Dimas controlled the vote (SD, the defending champs, placed third), but a late rush by Arroyo has pushed them ahead of Whittier Christian.

A lot of people like the Heralds.

I know we have fun calling it the Jack Del Rio League, but can we call the new addition to the Southeast Division the SubUrban Meyer League?

Nice to see Joey Porter is making friends fast in Arizona.

Let me share this from the heart. If the St. Louis Rams are in the hunt for Philadelphia quarterback Donovan McNabb, I’m down with it. I’ve never been pro-McNabb, view him as very good not great, however if dealing for him will get the Rams focused on taking Ndamukong Suh with the first pick instead of Sam Bradford…Well, I’m all for it.

Make it 29 teams now in contention for a World Series title in 2010 after the Seattle Mariners announced Milton Bradley as its new clean up hitter.

A team depending on Bradley for 150 games in the four slot is like Dennis Kucinich trying to run for a presidential nomination against Barack Obama.

Stay thirsty my friends…
