Apaches make Quick Work of Saints

K.J. Edson worked quickly in complete game victory

(Arcadia) – Arcadia still had time to catch a late movie. It took K.J Edson and the Apaches just one hour and 36 minutes to finish off San Dimas 3-1 Saturday night at the Apache Invitational.

Edson allowed just two hits and struck out 7 with no walks. He hit two batters and allowed just a single run in the third inning in going the distance.

Arcadia got all the runs it needed in the first inning. Jonathan Larson singled to right and Garrett Tuck walked. Larson took third on a wild pitch and scored on a ground ball by Brandon Benson. Kyle Schneider then doubled to plate Tuck.

In the second, Tyler Dominguez was hit by a pitch, advanced to second on a ground ball and third on a wild pitch. He scored on a base hit by Larson for a 3-0 advantage.

San Dimas scored in the third when Bobby Frajo was plunked by a pitch, stole second and took third on a single to right by Sean Kennedy. Frajo scored on a bunt by Brandon Yepiz. But that was all the Saints could muster.

Edson didn’t surrender a hit the rest of the way. He hit a batter in the fourth and San Dimas had a runner on base in the fifth but couldn’t take advantage. Edson then retired the last six batters in order.

Derek Penilla started for San Dimas and worked five innings. Jacob Ehret worked the last two. Penilla allowed three runs, four hits and walked two.

Schneider had two hits to lead the Apache attack.

Arcadia improved to 8-2 overall. The Apaches will face California Monday night at 7:00. San Dimas (6-5) will play La Salle at 10:00 AM.
