Irving, DeLong III, Rogers and Partridge all Event winners

TROPHY DASH (6 LAPS) – George Atkinson Jr, took the opening night Trophy Dash by taking the lead at the drop of the green flag and was never threatened by Sean Woodside who finished second.  Rookie Rod Johnson Jr finished third to round out the field.

SUPER STOCKS (35 LAPS) – Rich DeLong III won his second straight Super Stock event of the season by taking the lead on lap 20 and holding off Eric Sunness  on the final three laps.

DeLong had to do some racing early in the evening as he started near the back of the pack and spotted Sunness a five second lead before he made his march to the front.

DeLong looked like an easy winner and looked as though he was pulling clear only to have a late caution fly when Brad Keegan slid into the turn two wall on lap 32.

Bryan Harrell would round out the top three.

JUSTICE BROTHERS MINI STOCKS (35 LAPS) – Jacob Rogers inherited the lead from Rodney Bornhop on the second lap to win the opening race in the Justice Brothers Mini Stocks series.

Rogers really was never threatened and had a three second lead with three laps to go before Steve Patterson spun and collected Bornhop as he tried the spin.

Rogers got the jump on the re-start on lap 32 and watched as Rod Schmitt held off last year’s Champion Darryl Scoggin for the second spot.

KING TACO SUPER TRUCKS (40 LAPS) – Ryan Partridge won his first ever King Taco Super Truck race on the opening night of the series by checking out on the lap 35 re-start to win.

Todd Cameron had the lead for 13 laps until Partridge past him on the 14th lap and never looked back.  Cameron also was on pins and needles for the final five laps as he held off Pat Mintey Jr for the second.

Partridge was unlucky last week as he had a fast Super Late Model only to have his tire come off during a yellow flag.  Partridge came back onto the track last week three laps down and never recovered.

KEN PORTER AUCTIONS CLASSIC STOCKS (30 LAPS) – Ken Michaelian went from last to first and continued where he left off last season with a win in the Ken Porter Auctions Classic Stocks.

Ken Michaelian was able to get past Tommy Mason on lap five and never relinquished the lead.  Mason took the lead early in the race when Mike Colato was sent to the pack for an apparent infraction.

Ken’s father Harry was in second for the most of the race until he was passed by Colato late in the race.

Michaelian winning margin was a good six seconds clear of second place.

AUTO CLUB LATE MODELS (40 LAPS) – Travis Irving opened up the 2010 season by holding off Chris Holloway and Rod Johnson Jr in the Auto Club Late Model Race.

Irving survived a wreck-filled second half of the race as George Atkinson Jr. missed a shift on a re-start and caused a chain reaction wreck that saw Grant Hebner, Dallas Colodny, Tim Huddleston, Larry Cerquettini and Sean Woodside.   Woodside and Colodny were running strongly near the front prior to the crash.

For the last ten laps, Irving was being pressured by Johnson Jr and Holloway as both took shots at getting by him.

Johnson Jr tried the low-line with five laps to go but never could get by Irving and eventually relinquished second to Holloway on the final two laps.

DEMOLITION DERBY – Bill Thiebert was able to withstand the onslaught of six other Demolition Drivers.

Adam Ditto finished a questionable second as he went around in circles and didn’t hit anyone until John Northcutt hit him in the driver’s side.  Northcutt was disqualified for the hit.
