  1. The Astros, Indians and Red Sox all have five representatives in the MLB All-Star game followed by the Yankees and Braves with four each.
  2. Matt Kemp was voted in as a starter for the NL in the All-Star game. It is his second selection as a starter. (2011) Kenley Jansen was also selected as one of the NL pitchers.
  3. The Angels’ Mike Trout was selected as a starter to his seventh AL All-Star team.
  4. Happy 53rd birthday to Bailey’s, Miles’ and Mason’s dad and Mid Valley reader Kennedy Bryant.
  5. Roger Federer advanced to his 16th Wimbledon quarter final with a straight set victory over Adrian Mannarino.
  6. Eight years ago yesterday (July 8th, 2010) ESPN aired “The Decision”.
  7. The APU Cougar Men’s basketball team advanced to the BLIA Cup semi-finals in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Also, the Cougars welcomed in two new players in as transfers – Jonathan Davis from Baylor and Jake Spurgeon from Seattle University.
  8. On this day in 1988 Nolan Ryan became the 7th pitcher to win 100 games on two different teams.
  9. LAFC have won five of their last six matches and have pulled to within one point of Western Conference leading FC Dallas.

    Singiser was undoubtedly taken to the limit of what he’s willing to endure as a head coach last Saturday, when he had to personally unclog toilets that had been jammed with two rolls of tissue each. When I read of this valiant act on Sondheimer’s twitter, I was flushed with respect.
