Conquerors Victorious Over Colts

Los Altos opens 2018 on a positive note!

(Covina) The Los Altos Conquerors opened the season and the Travis Brown era with a solid 35-27 win over the Covina Colts Friday night at Covina District Field.

The defense came up with three turnovers including three inteceptions of Covina’s Nin Burns II one of which was returned for a score.

Midway through the third quarter the Conquerors held a 28-8 advantange and it looked like it was going to be smooth sailing from there. Burns and the rest of the Colt offense were done and stormed back to cut the lead to 28-21 as the clock closed on the third.

Martin Keeley couldn’t haul in the potential game tying touchdown pass.

Los Altos pushed their advantange back to 14 points early in the final frame but Burns and company responded with another score of their own.

With time winding down, Covina went on their final drive of the evening all the way to the Los Altos 10. The drive was highligted by a 4th and 14 play that Burns connected with Matthew Mannino for 36 yards and a first down.

Facing a fourth and goal at the Conqueror ten, Burns looked in the direction of Martin Keeley but his pass fell short ending the drive and the hope of the Colts.

Nin Burns II threw for three scores but also threw three costly Interceptions.

Nin was in Illinois playing in the Colt World Series on Aug 9th. Then they had to drive home. First game was Aug 17th . That gave him 4 days of practice before the first game.
    Lighten up on the guy.

The kid is lazy because he is a multi sport athlete with a good GPA or because he didnt play a perfect game and your expectations is that he is a robot that must perform at the highest level every game and isnt a teenager…

Don’t count on beating teams in your league. Burns just came back from playing baseball, the kid didn’t have enough practice before the season started. None the less LA did get the win.

No matter what people are always going to find a reason to hate on us or comment about a weakness they see in our team or say something about our coaches, we dont care we are young and having fun this year, the big plus is we do have talent and we happen to win when everybody said Covina should kick our butts…let’s trust the each other LA
