Booth is D1 running back because he played against BP and SP? Are you serious? Look he may very well be a college running back but let’s be be honest here he’s going against two very bad teams. Plus he plays in the double wing where rushing numbers are inflated anyway. If his coach really wants to prep him he’ll put him for college put him in I formation at the very least. How many colleges run the DW? Slow down on the D1 claims man it’s only BP. If he smokes it vs Arroyo SEM Rose San Marino I’ll start to pay attention

Man I hope you’re right. SEM is off to a pretty bad start. I’m looking for any bright spots to hang my hat on. I think defensively we will be ok the offense is just so predictable and so ineffective right now. Crossing my fingers man.

Hey man you’re pretty sensitive about you’re colts dude. I said this would sound bad before I made the statement “Covina isn’t that good” Covina was trying to score, even with the running clock. That’s just my opinion Covina still has the rest of the season to prove what they really are. Time reveals all dude. Either way good luck the rest of the season.

I wasn’t predicting how far Alhambra will go this year; I merely said that’s what happened in 2011, which was the last time we got off to a 2-0 start.
I thought it was an interesting piece of history, so that’s why I brought it up. Some people might actually like to know that.
As I said just a while ago on this same thread, the Moors will play their games one at a time. We’ll take each opponent seriously and do our best to be prepared every week.
I appreciate the compliment, by the way. We’ll see what happens next Friday; the game against Temple City could be a good indicator of how Alhambra’s season might go.

Sure, the Almont is down so far it needs a ladder to tie its shoe laces, but stop to think how great it has been for business here at the Mid. The buzzards have flown here in droves to tell of their pleasure in feasting off the deceased body of Schurr football.

Alhambra is 2-0 to start the season; the last time the Moors accomplished that feat was in 2011, when they made it to the CIF quarterfinals.
Our defense has generally been good; we held our opponents scoreless for seven quarters before finally allowing a touchdown in the fourth quarter last night.
The special teams have been OK so far, and the offense has shown occasional flashes of brilliance, but it’s definitely a work in progress.
We’ll keep facing our opponents, one at a time. Our home opener will be against Temple City next Friday night.

Sad to see the Almont league as a whole is as bad as it ever has been EVER. Not sure what is going on but with rumors of illegal recruiting by several schoolS over the last several years I doubt you will be seeing any improvement any time soon. Worst part of these rumors is that the spot light from here on out will be on any future transfers and in an age where transfers is the name of the game, this league will continue to be garbage. Officially worst league in the southland.

Booth is definitely a Division1 athlete. I’d say the best player to ever play at El Monte. The coaches did a great job of identifying a need and making sure the kid got to their school. I could see them winning two CIF titles while he’s there. There is no one in D11-13 that hangs with him.

  21. August 25, 2018 - 2:11 am | Permalink

Gotta love when someone comes on here after they had their pants dropped and then got royally spanked… then claims their defense was pretty good…and the other team… not so much. Covina could have put a lot more points up on the board if they wanted to. And you know that. But they decided to use that running clock thing, and let our backups get some playing time.
We got real fancy last night. We ran right up the middle. Then we threw the ball downfield to someone who caught it. Real fancy stuff.
I suggest that you take the time and actually learn your team instead of bashing a team that chose not to go for the jugular. You’ve got to admit tho 41-9 against a team that is “not that good ” is pretty close.
You are right about one thing. This is not the Covina of last year. They have another year of experience and put on a few pounds of muscle. Just ask the guys that were tasked with trying to tackle us. Or ran after us for 30 yards…And this was while different players were being shuffled around and tried out in different spots because of that whole pre-seaon learning curve thing.
You’ve got some good kids on that team. Support them instead of bashing kids that are ” not that good ” and you don’t know squat about. And you don’t know squat about them. If you did you could have shared your vast knowledge with your coaches on how to stop them.

This isn’t going to be a back and forth. I’ve said my piece.

You got me there. I can admit when I’m wrong and man was I wrong. I spoke before the season started I didn’t think we’d fall off this bad. Still on the wagon though. But, I think I’m right about this, Covina is not Covina of last year.

    Monte,
He doesn’t need to be a senior for people to know whether he’s a scholarship kid or not. A college coach sees him in the flesh once and he’ll know.
Wow! My get back coach aka Assistant to the Assistant aka Chain Gang is back! Chill out brosif, you guys beat Nogales. They are not the same team from last year. As immature and closed minded as you are sir, you are right. The MVL title goes through your daddy’s team, Arroyo. Circle your calendars guys. It’s going to be a good one!

Haha! Looks like the Knights are back baby! Where are all you haters now? We layed the wood tonight! EMC looked in mid season form and it’s only August!
Let’s hear it boys??? One thing I will say is Nogales is a fun place to play!!!

Don’t crown the kitties just yet. The title still comes through the “KINGDOM” I don’t care who you got or where he’s from. It’s lights out!! Better believe we ain’t South Pas!

Hey SEM, how’s this tasting so far? You still think it’s a better staff than last year? Lololololsssss hey at least you managed two scoring drives I didn’t think you had it in you. But it was probably against the bench kids right? Talent is being wasted at the swamp. So far it’s 65-9 OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rosemead beats SG ok ok you’re getting closer to being on my radar
Same goes for Gabby except I don’t who that team is that they beat.

Kinda feel bad for the spartans defense or lack their of but not really, 100 points scored against is kinda a lot to open the season. Still a lot of football to be played. Great win for the bulldog nation.

Monrovia will get much better as the season progresses. No need to come on here and go back and forth with the preseason Burbank Bulldog championship fans… I love the preseason hardware that you get when you have a happy preseason, but what counts is the end of the season, if you don’t get better you go home. Monrovia will get better as the season gets longer.

If the EM kid is a scholarship kid, not JC or D3 but an actual scholarship, they’ll have what it takes to beat Arroyo. My looming question is this…can the D stop Camacho and company? Pounding the rock helps you chew up clock and gives their O less chances to score but can EM do it all game? Only time will tell. This game might be worth the cost of admission!

First word outta SEM. First off the Eagles defensively are pretty good. Offensively yea we’re pretty bad. Same 3-5 plays over and over and over …..and over lol but I like us on defense. Another point and this gonna sound bad after this 41-9 game but I don’t think Covina is all that good. Honestly think Northview and San Dimas blow these colts out. I think we’re just not clicking on offense and it gave Covina more possessions and also SEM still has not solved its Special teams woes. You’d think they’d learn! SEM great effort on defense I guess the offense will come around…. I hope

After watching EM tonight and seeing Booth, I would say they are clearly the favorite to win league and CIF. All of the El Monte neighborhood boys watch in amazement as he dominates the game. It is literally like playing Madden on Rookie mode when he gets the ball. He is faster, stronger, quicker, explosive, etc. than all the competition. Next week may be the only game they have any competition with San Marino but it should be a cake walk the rest of the way. Booth will easily win League/CIF MVP, be all area, and be able to earn a high level scholarship. That is as long as coaches look past the fact he is playing against such weak competition, where maybe 1 or 2 kids from all the teams he plays combined will go on to play college at the JUCO or division 3 level.

I played HS football in this Valley many years ago
In following the MVS coverage last year into this, I’ve had some observations –
    – the “specialists”. Specialty coaches and camps
    – contract coaches. ie; non-faculty
    – “Feeder” leagues. the Youth leagues. Akin to minor league affiliates?
    – Kids (players) being virtually traded school to school
… and when did they let the O-Line use hands?
Regaardless; Good luck & good health to all the kids ..and especially the team from my good olde alma mater..
