1. The Cleveland Browns beat the New York Jets 21-17 on Thursday Night Football. Baker Mayfield makes his debut for the Browns and completes 17 of 23 for 201 yards and also catches a pass for a two point conversion while rallying them from a 14-0 deficit.

2. The Dodgers are 2.5 games ahead of Colorado in the NL West after sweeping a three game series from the Rockies.

3. Billie Jean King joins the Dodgers ownership group.

4. The Oakland A’s beat the Angels 21-3 on Thursday but Francisco Arcia of the Angels became the first player to catch, pitch and hit a home run in the same game.

5. “I’m not on the sideline begging for the ball or making statements as you guys make. I’m pissed off. We’re losing. We suck.”- Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Antonio Brown.

6. Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star Jimmy Butler is most interested in joining the LA Clippers.

7. Bonita was charged with a forfeit loss in the game to Riverside Poly on August 31st due to an ineligible player and now has a record of 3-1.

8.  La Serna S/WR Jakob Abston has 26 total tackles and 236 yards receiving in the Lancers first five games.

9. On this day in 1982 the NFL players began a 57-day strike.

10. Also on this day in 1985 Michael Spinks won by decision over Larry Holmes in 15 rounds to become the WBC Heavyweight Boxing Champion.
