6. The Lakers lose to the Cleveland Cavaliers (9-35) 101-95 Sunday night at Staples Center to fall to 23-21.

7. Former New York Yankee pitcher Mel Stottlemyre passed away at the age of 77.

8. The Chicago White Sox have offered free agent Manny Machado an eight-year deal.

9. The Patriots reached the AFC Title game for the eighth straight year.

10. On this date in 1973 the Miami Dolphins beat the Washington Redskins 14-7 in Super Bowl VII at the LA Memorial Coliseum. Miami safety Jake Scott is named MVP.

    I stand with La Serna, Whittier, El Rancho and Santa Fe in welcoming Louis Zamora as the new football coach of Cal High. We remind athletic director Jim Arnold that no matter what may happen in the short-term, this is the guy you want for the long-term.

    You need a QB that can throw a deep ball in the NFL. Charger QB missed wide open receivers at least 3 times that should have been TD’s. What Patriots defense gave Chargers in the 4th Quarter was charity.
