1. Duke’s Zion Williamson is day-to-day after spraining his right knee when he slipped as his left shoe fell apart in the first minute of an 88-72 loss to North Carolina Wednesday night.

2. Syracuse head basketball coach Jim Boeheim struck and killed a man along an interstate highway late Wednesday night as he tried to avoid hitting the man’s disabled vehicle.

3. The NBA has proposed changing the draft-eligible age requirement from 19 to 18 to the National Basketball Player’s Association.

4. The Dodgers will honor pitching great Don Newcomb by adding a commemorative #36 patch to their uniforms this season. Newcomb passed away Tuesday at the age of 92.

5. “Knowing what I know college basketball is bull (deleted).” – Golden State Warriors center DeMarcus Cousins advising Zion Williamson to get ready for the NBA.

6. The LA Galaxy kicks off the regular season Saturday March 2 against the Chicago Fire.

7. Happy Birthday to Montebello HC Pete Gonzalez who turned 54 yesterday.

8. Bennie Boatwright is now third on USC’s all-time three pointers made list with 220 behind Elijah Stewart, 245, and Lodrick Stewart, 232.

9. Julius Irving “Dr. J” turns 69 today.

    When I heard this story, I knew it was a shoe-in for the number one item here. I’d say it’s the lead story by a mile, if not by a foot.
