Azusa Pacific Women Fall in Elite Eight

By Tim Peterson

The Azusa Pacific women’s run came to an end Tuesday as they fell to Indiana University of Pennsylvania 73-60 in the Elite Eight of the NCAA Division II Tournament at Ohio Dominican University in Columbus, Ohio.

IUP led 37-27 at the half and the Cougars could never recover.

Daylee Hanson led the Cougars with 14 points  and Rachel Bozlee added 10. But that wasn’t enough to derail a powerful Hawks team that was led by Carolyn Appleby and Lauren Wolosik who had 17 and 16 points respectively.

The Cougars advanced to the Elite Eight when backup guard Lydia Nieto hit a dramatic shot at the buzzer to beat Alaska Anchorage.

Azusa Pacific finished at 26-4 overall.
