Clock Strikes Midnight for Dons in Loss to Loara

By Frank Chavez
(Baldwin Park, CA) Sierra Vista’s impressive first season under new Head Coach Sergio Villaseñor came to an end at the hands of the Loara Saxons, 28-20

Sierra Vista got off to a quick start as Senior Dominik Velazquez took the opening kick off 90 yards for a touchdown, followed by a pick-6 by Senior Nicholas Soares that went for 60 yards.

Loara got on the board with a 19-yard pass from Senior Alex Islas to Junior Sebastian McCullar. Followed closely by a pick 6 of their own. The Dons wasted little time to answer with a 44 yard dash by Senior Efrain Castro. The Saxons answered right back with a 61-yard run with 17 seconds left in the half to make it 21-20.

Loara added one more score in the third quarter with a 12-yard rush by Islas, but the dons wouldn’t go quietly. But a couple of miscues by the Sierra Vista offense was enough to end their season. Junior Andre Corona fumbled at Loara’s 1 yard line. With their following possession they managed to drive to the one again only to turn the ball over on downs. Another fumble by Corona with two minutes left in the game ended their season

Islas finished 8 of 20 passing for 73 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception. He also added 92 yards rushing with another score. Up next for Loara is a clash with South Torrance in the Division 14 semifinals

Sophomore Alan Flores went 13 of 21 for 65 yards passing and 1 pick. Corona had 25 attempts for 77 yards and 2 fumbles. Castro tacked on 58 yards on 8 attempts with the Dons sole offensive touchdown. Sierra Vista’s seasons ended at 6-6 (10-1 on the field with four games forfeited.)

Tweets aside. SV is on the map. I may not agree with tweets and the talk but it’s pretty damn impressive to go from winless to 10-1 (on the field) congratulations to the staff and more importantly to those kids who put the work in because remember they’re Ones on the field. On another note, SV is trying to back up the their talk by scheduling up so this should keep getting interesting, stay tuned….

So in reality it’s 6-6. Don’t try to make it a feel good 10-2 type of BS. The question is if the Great MV lmao and his staff will be returning or just use this and split. Maybe more transfers are needed to help them with their WE WANT TO PLAY MATER DEI or AMG crap
