  1. Jared Goff had 61 pass attempts in the Rams 28-17 loss to the Miami Dolphins Sunday. The Rams dropped to 5-3 on the season.
  2. The Chargers let a 21-3 lead get away and lost to the Denver Broncos 31-30 Sunday to fall to 2-5 on the season.
  3. Top ranked Clemson survived a 34-28 win over Boston College Saturday. Freshman D.J. Uiagalelei, from St. John Bosco, completed 30 of 41 for 342 yards and two touchdowns in place of starter Trevor Lawrence who was out due to a positive test for COVID-19. Lawrence will also miss next Saturday’s game against Notre Dame.
  4. USC will open the Pac 12 season this Saturday against Arizona St. at the Coliseum. UCLA is at Colorado.
  5. The Pittsburgh Steelers remained the only unbeaten team in the NFL with a 28-24 win over the Baltimore Ravens Sunday.
  6. At Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, the Raiders play on natural grass, but UNLV plays on artificial turf that is rolled out over the grass.
  7. Former La Serna football player Cody Stewart, class of 2017, was tragically killed in an incident last Thursday night.
  8. The New England Patriots, now 2-5, have lost 4 straight games after a 24-21 loss to the Buffalo Bills Sunday.

  10. On this day in 2016 the Chicago Cubs beat the Cleveland Indians 8-7 in Game 7 of the World Series to win the team’s first title in 108 years.

    UCLA should have no problems with sparse crowds at their games this season. After all they have a few years experience.

    Goff reminded me of that nightmare of a Ram QB Jim Everett. Like Chrissy he was seeing ghosts, throwing the ball up for grabs and could not step up into the pocket because of fear.

    RIP CODY
    Cody was also Varstity Baseball coach at Bassett High School last two seasons. My son was on his coaching staff. Kids enjoyed playing for Cody. My condolences to his family and loved ones. 22 years old life taken so soon.
