St. Paul Shines in Second Half

Isaiah Dunn threw for two scores and ran for two more for St. Paul

(Pomona) – St. Paul outscored Diamond Ranch 27-0 in the second half and went on to beat the Panthers 27-7 Friday night at Diamond Ranch High.

The Swordsmen were down 7-0 at the half before the second half onslaught. After recovering a squib kick to open the half St. Paul drove down to the one-yard line but was stopped on fourth down. But on the next possession the Swordsmen broke through when quarterback Isaiah Dunn scrambled out of the pocket and went 70 yards for  touchdown. The extra point tied it at 7. 

On the next series St. Paul marched 70 yards on 7 plays. Aidan Bravo hauled in an 18-yard touchdown pass from Dunn for a 13-7 lead with just 31 seconds left in the third quarter. 

In the fourth Dunn capped another 70 yard drive with a 9-yard burst up the middle for a score to make it 20-7 with 5:57 left. 

Diamond Ranch went for it on fourth down but failed leaving the Swordsmen on a short field. St. Paul took advantage when Dunn threw a 36-yard scoring strike to Jordan Williams who danced into the end zone to finish it off. 

The Panthers only touchdown came with 6:24 left in the second quarter when Travon Smith scored on an 11-yard run. Diamond Ranch missed some golden opportunities in the first half however. They lost a fumble at the St. Paul two-yard line and also were stopped at the one on fourth down as the first half ended. 

Smith was the focal point of the offense running for 187 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries. 

For St. Paul Dunn ran for 92 yards and two touchdowns and passed for 195 yards and two scores. 

St. Paul improved to 4-0 with the win while Diamond Ranch fell to 1-3.
