(South El Monte) – Quarterback Omar Navarro led the Knights on the ground and in the air in their 42-6 shellacking of South El Monte at “The Swamp”.
Arroyo started off the game with a seven play drive that was capped off with a Navarro eight-yard touchdown run, putting the Knights up 7-0 early.
The Eagles had a three and out on their first drive and a short punt didn’t help putting Arroyo in good field position.
The Knights took advantage driving the short field and Nate Guardado finishing it off this time with a six-yard run, a extra point made it 14-0.
Another South punt put Navarro to work again. This time he sliced through the Eagles defense and scored on a nine- yard run.
The score stood 21-0 until the half with the teams exchanging punts and a South El Monte lost fumble.
The Eagles had the ball first second half and didn’t do anything but another three and out:
Navarro now went to work through the air finding Guardado for a 45-yard catch and run to paydirt.
South finally got on the board at 3:20 in the third quarter when Marco Sarabia took the hand off 10-yards but a missed extra point but the game at 28-6.
Arroyo put the points right back on the board with a Navarro to Ryan Duong five yard touchdown catch.
The Eagles again with nothing going punted.
Ismael Ceja scored on the Knights first drive of the fourth quarter making it 42-6 and started the running clock.
Eagles went on to turn the ball over on downs and Arroyo ended the game with their reserves in.
Arroyo (7-0) will go home and host Rosemead while South (3-4) will hit the road and face the also struggling El Monte Lions.

Choke!? Thats your teams job bro man. SEM beats up on the MVs Gabs and EMs but lays down for the teams that can punch back. I just can’t explain what happened against Glendale lmfao. That was the worst loss in a decade or more at SEM. Shouldn’t you be focusing on your next game? You guys are already being questioned for scouting and preparation lmfao stop wasting valuable Hudl time on the mid valley. Your team needs your 100% attention on your next opponent. Choke on that.

Do you really think I’m gonna waste my time proving something to you? you aren’t that important brother. Your opinion about SEM is yours and that only means something to you. Arroyo is historically known for its air attack so we made sure to limit that aspect of the game and force them to run the ball to beat us. its a pick your poison type deal. The fact that you are calling out a staff that has CIF rings and deep playoff run experience is laughable. We are accepting applications maybe your expertise would put us over the edge.

Arroyos Plan B was to run the ball? Anyone with eyes knows Arroyos strength this season has been the run! Now I really hope you aren’t on staff. Either way I call like I see it you and the SEM staff very likely could be killing the scouting areas and just not executing but IMO highly unlikely. The inconsistency is very evident and it says a lot about the work being put in during the week. You want to change me mind take of business against EM and MV then beat Rosemead maybe then we’ll talk.

my coaching stays is none of your concern. I didn’t blame the kids, I said the coaches put together a game plan that tried to take away the Arroyo passing attack and did a pretty good job of doing so. They had to go to plan b and run the ball so maybe you don’t know what you are talking about. as for our offensive attack we are a running team we run the rock that’s what we do so of course our runs will outweigh the pass but we did try to pass the ball but we failed to execute. There are no coaches taking short cuts everyone is doing the absolute best they can. This staff is much younger than in the past so mistakes will be made were ok with so lang as we are getting better. I will say this about the coaching turnover at SEM this staff isn’t a bunch of dads on the sidelines this staff has CIF championship pedigree on it much more experienced at the top and young and energetic. This staff will deliver that’s a guarantee.

You gotta understand that criticism of the SEM staff is nothing personal strictly factual based on MY OPINION. Fact 1, SEM was beat soundly and intact looked very un-prepared
Fact 2 coaches did not make any in game adjustments to my eyes.
Fact 3 coaches were smiling after the game almost looked like they expected to lose the game.
Also I just have to point out the other fact that I hope you aren’t coach because I have never heard a coach blame the kids for the loss.

first things first Congratulations to the Arroyo Knights. straight out they kicked our butts. I hope they do good things the rest of the way. Now with that out of the way, Our kids were well prepared we just didn’t execute. The game plan was there but the coaches aren’t the ones that run the plays. Friday, the Knights executed their game plan better than we did.
Mr. Gold, Usually you are fair and impartial but your comments this week are out of line and uncalled for. Gallardo does a great job have you forgotten the back to back semi final appearances just a few years ago? bad coaching doesn’t get you to the dance twice!

Why Gallardo is still a coach at South is BEYOND me and everyone else with eyes. The school is quick to get rid of a baseball coach for yelling at the kids but keeps this guy who probably can’t even coach a Jets flag football team to victory. The talent is there and he’s doing these kids a disservice by still being there. I hope this is his last yr.
Gallardo had Beltran this year on defense. Should have been a different outcome. Makes me think how much influence Gallardo has…… Wait it’s on him regardless. Maybe time for a change at the swamp. He’s had different coaches every year come and go, And same result. So sad.

South El Monte lost this game during the week. Friday night was merely the execution of bad preparation. The Eagles weren’t gonna beat Arroyo unless they made them go to their secondary stuff well the knights never had to change up. It was Plan A all night long.

Goldie, been screaming this for years. South always has talent they just can’t put it together. Last night was a different SEM team though, seemed they were a little intimidated. Even the scoring drive they did muster up took two bone head penalties on our part and tipped ball that should’ve been a pick 6 for us instead it fell into the hands of an SEM receiver. Otherwise we’re talking goose egg!
I’d just like to dedicate this victory to big Dezzz who’s probably busy coming up with excuses for the performance last night or hiding in shame. Waiting on that apology dezzy. Lmfao next time…….. shhhhh silence is Golden.
Caught another SEM game and once again the Jekyll and Hyde team laid a giant egg. Arroyo ran the down the heart of SEMs defense all night. Navarro is a dual threat Qb who makes plays. Ceja is a tough runner Enriquez who’s small but just makes plays and Guardardo might be the best player on the team. But Arroyo does a great job of putting their guys in positions for success. SEM on the other hand not only lacks imagination on offense running the same 4-5 plays over and over again running on first and second down then throwing on third and long but you get the feeling SEM doesn’t scout, it’s like they didn’t know what was Arroyos strengths and weaknesses. They also never made a single adjustment to Arroyo simply putting everyone in the box and daring SEM to pass the ball. Very disappointed in the staff for the Eagles this one is them. I’d be shocked if SEM garnered much more than a 100 yards of total offense it was that bad. 3 and out after 3 and out you almost felt for the kids. Also the fight might lacking on the south side because I saw a lot of smiles on coaches faces post game, one has to ask does the loses hurt a little, or did they expect to lose, or do they even care? Nothing personal but these coaches must be called out. Arroyo is good and they will go undefeated in league and raise yet another league championship and if they can keep improving that passing game maybe do some damage in the playoffs. SEM might beat EM and MV but they are a one and done team if selected for CIF and the reason will not be because of a lack of talent, it’ll be from a lack of preparation.
