Chino Hills – The Ayala Bulldogs’ defense forced five turnovers in their 35-14 win Friday night against visiting Bonita. Bryan Wilson and Dominic Alloway led the way on offense by combining for three scores in their final home Mountain West league game at Ayala High school.

“It feels amazing,” said Alloway after the game. “I got me a nice little short touchdown. But I couldn’t have done it without my team. I’m really blessed and grateful for them.”

The Bulldogs opened the game by establishing the running attack thanks to Marquis Monroe, who could explode for carries for 15 and 36 yards. Wilson then capped off the drive by faking the handoff to Monroe and found Alloway alone for the game’s first touchdown.

“When we see them blitzed on the goal line, I checked to Bryan, and he dumped it off to me for the touchdown,” said Alloway when talking about his score.

Then following a missed field goal by Bonita on their opening drive, the Bulldogs extended their lead to 14 after Jacob Munoz, who replaced Monroe, who left the game after an injury, carried the ball to pay dirt just before the first quarter ended.

As the second frame started, Ayala started to pull away after their defense recovered Daniel Andrade’s fumble on the Bearcat 14. Wilson hooked up with Lytallion Payne II on their first play of the drive for the corner end zone touchdown, giving the Bulldogs a 21-0 edge.

It was not until the last minute of the second quarter that Bonita reached the end zone. Andrade connected with Trevor Cadam, who hauled in the catch over two defenders giving his team their first points of the night.

After intermission, the Bulldogs defense continued to add pressure and force turnovers. Chandler Carthan’s one-handed pick-six was the team’s fourth interception of the night, which gave Ayala a 28-7 lead before the third quarter ended.

Following a late touchdown by the Bulldogs backups, Bonita was able to reach the end zone one last time when Andrade connected with Cadam for the second time of the night, giving the final score of 35-14 as the final buzzer sounded.

With the win, Ayala looks to complete a perfect Mountain West season next week when they travel to play Charter Oak. Bonita will look to bounce back next week when they play Alta Loma in their final league game of the 2021 season.
