Turkey Tussle Canceled due to COVID-19 Issues

By Tim Peterson

(Pasadena) -The annual “Turkey Tussle” game between Pasadena and Muir scheduled for Friday night at the Rose Bowl has been canceled due to COVID-19 issues.

The game was also for the Pacific League championship as both teams were 4-0 in league coming in. A statement was released signed by both Dr. Lawton Gray, Principal at Muir, and Pasadena Principal Robert Hernandez indicating that the game had been canceled because an athlete who was to participate in the game had tested positive for COVID-19 and he along with other players will need to be quarantined.

The statement also indicated that rescheduling the game hasn’t been ruled out however there may be constraints due to upcoming playoff games and lack of venue availability.

Both teams will qualify for the CIF playoffs which will begin the following week.

@ Anonymous the Troll: You’re off-topic on this thread, to begin with. In addition, one could imagine that Coach Maxie is enjoying his offensive coordinator job at Pasadena too much to even consider coming to Alhambra.
If Coach Maxie ever took over the football program at any of the high schools in the Alhambra district, he would probably regret it because the district administration won’t give him much latitude.
I also don’t think that Coach Maxie would like the deficient facilities at Alhambra High in particular. I doubt he’d come to work at a place that looks run-down.

I’m guessing if this was a playoff game the infected team would have found a way to play.

Seems fair. Won’t have time to make up game.

Since we’re already in the last week of the regular season, it seems to me that Pasadena and Muir should be declared Pacific League co-champions and they’ll just move on to the playoffs. Good luck to both teams.
