  1. The Dallas Cowboys beat the New Orleans Saints 27-17 on Thursday Night Football. 
  2. The Dodgers re-signed Chris Taylor to a four-year, $60 million deal. 
  3. LeBron James has been cleared to return to the Lakers lineup after a brief stint in the NBA’s health and safety protocols. He has returned eight negative COVID-19 tests since Tuesday. 
  4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Antonio Brown has been suspended three games for violating the NFL-NFLPA COVID-19 protocols. Brown was found to have misrepresented his vaccination status. 
  5. MLB officially locked out its players early Thursday morning, the games first work stoppage in more than a quarter century. 
  6. Mater Dei running back Raleek Brown has committed to USC, becoming the first player to commit to new head coach Lincoln Riley. 
  7. La Serna wide receiver Jake George was named Del Rio League MVP. 
  8. Marcus Freeman, defensive coordinator at Notre Dame, is the leading candidate to become the new head coach at Notre Dame to replace Brian Kelly. 
  9. Azusa Pacific Men’s Basketball is 2-4 through its first six games. 
  10. 1999 World Shot Put Champion CJ Hunter passed away at the age of 52.

    @ #2: It’s a really good thing that Chris Taylor re-signed with the Dodgers. He might end up being their new starting shortstop, with Cory Seager leaving for the Texas Rangers. Taylor could be the best utility man in major league baseball.

    It’s considered bad form to discuss, but I wonder who the Del Rio’s LEAST valuable player was, and what that trophy would look like if it were awarded. We also need to give the Clay Helton award to the Del Rio’s least valuable coach…any nominations?
