  1. Former Cathedral/ Mater Dei/ current Alabama quarterback Bryce Young won the Heisman Trophy. 
  2. Northview fell to Sacred Heart Cathedral 48-29 Saturday night in the D-4 State Bowl in Kezar Stadium in San Francisco.  
  3. Navy upset Army 17-13 Saturday in the annual classic rivalry.
  4. Georgia DC Dan Lanning was named the new head football coach at Oregon. 
  5. Manny Diaz, who was fired last week as the head coach at Miami, was named the DC at Penn State. 
  6. New York City FC beat the Portland Timbers 4-2 on penalties to win the MLS Cup Saturday. 
  7. New Orleans Pelican forward Zion Williamson, who hasn’t played in a game this season due to a foot injury, has played in 85 games in his NBA career which began in 2019 and has missed 87. 
  8. Baldwin Park quarterback Drew Knight was named the Mt. Baldy League Offensive Player of the Year. 
  9. Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady passed Drew Brees for most pass completions in NFL history Sunday in a win over the Buffalo Bills.

    This Bryce Young story gives Mater Dei another rock to hide behind as the school struggles to distance itself from the hazing accusation. Everything’s just great on the Santa Ana campus…those who think otherwise are deplorables.
