@HIGHLANDER must be a booster parent housing the x fer students. You’re only relevant because of the outside players and you know it. When LS played LH every summer. LS lower level spanked that DELETED every time. You didn’t have any outside help. Varsity they went toe to toe even with your new xfer students.
Actually that’s exactly how it works. It’s exactly why competitive equity exists; to keep up with the times. Why has the East San Gabriel Valley been able to figure this out but Whittier and Pasadena areas are still behind?
This is a much bigger issue than high school football leagues. Open enrollment did create this at a lot of places, however, it’s not the worse thing IMO nor is it the best thing. It helps keep public school functioning and gives parents more rights. Open enrollment isn’t going anywhere… BUT let’s not act like it doesn’t give specific schools an advantage both academically and athletically.
Many of the schools you see with high academic ratings (usually in higher socio-economic areas) benefit from open enrollment while the schools with lower ratings (usually in lesser socio-economic areas) suffer. This widens the gap between the haves and have nots. It does the same athletically.
The notion then becomes that Glendora has better teachers than Azusa; that Bonita has better teachers than Pomona; or that La Serna has better teachers than Pioneer. It’s a viewpoint that is simply untrue, but nevertheless the Azusa, Pomona, and poorer Whittier parents still do their darndest to send their kids to the Glendora, Bonita, or La Serna under the false premise of a better education. You can’t blame them for doing this either. They want what’s best for their kid and look at some rating on the internet and think, “that’s where I want to send my kid to school!”
Athletically, the East San Gabriel Valley in CIF has figured this out. This is why you don’t see completely opposite schools like San Dimas and Baldwin Park in the same league anymore. I don’t know why the Whittier and Pasadena areas have not yet figured this out. They want to keep the world of open enrollment, but don’t want to make the necessary adjustments for fair, competitive equity. At least Glendale and Hoover are not longer having to play Arcadia, Muir, and Crescenta Valley.
LaGarbage boy are you wrong. You will never be at our level , your only one step above Whittier Christian. You have some of our boys in LS , you dont see me complaining . AS for recruiting and what not, be careful pointing fingers bc yall do the same game. Yes we get more transfers every year , do you know why?
like LS Coach said “can you blame them”
who have you sent to college? NOBODY
exactly
but we send kids out EVERY YEAR and not just small schools.
D1 FULL RIDE – tell me when LaGarbage sent someone D1? ill wait …
last season was a LOCAL LH KID …”cmon dawg” we got a LOCAL kid just win superbowl
hahahaah, keep playing your backyard football… step up and play with the big boys if you want to puff your chest, other than that … ENJOY your league patch ! hahaahaha
?guataLaHabra ? – i dont understand your insult?
LaGarbage – your trash
Cal was building a good program and yearly whooping LS then Open enrollment happened, Mahlstede left SF and LS was basically handed the keys. ER doesn’t need new coaches, ER staff is solid they overachieve yearly with some of the most undersized un athletic kids in the area, they just can’t compete with the Whittier all star team, it’s too much. WUHSD closing up open enrollment would end the LS reign at the top, they probably won’t though because of $$, I’ve said too much though, once again cool congrats LS you’ve worked hard, but we can’t continue to ignore all the advantages you have been given. If I’m Cal, Whittier, SF, Pioneer I don’t know how I ever allowed this to happen. Tighten up those boundaries and we would know who would reign supreme in the Del Rio, they won’t though cuz they know the fit that would be thrown in friendly hills.
No one is talking about transfers, why would a kid need to transfer into your school if you’re already drawing kids from such a huge area? So you named 5 kids what about the other 17 starters, what about the rest of the roster? Frankly I don’t care about transfers, I don’t care if LS has such an advantage, the very least that could be done is own it, own the advantage, challenge yourself to go play elsewhere, don’t fight to stay in a comfortable league when your district set you up to always win.
LS COACH
well yeah!!!
when your boundary is open
let them all in lol, how about you point out the kids living with “foster parents” that live with in the district
well.. for one LS would probably love to be “RE-LEAGUED” but unfortunately thats not how any of this works.. just because its lop sided in football and LA RANCHERA will never win a league title because LS has become a powerhouse ,find a new sport or STOP CRYING and LHHS recruits out of their district and should be reported tbh but funny you talk HIGHlander yall havent wont jack DELETED since being in a higher division.. no more D9 titles .. could hardly compete in D9 .. times have changed in GuataLaHabra
Highlander AKA RANCH18. LH is just a private school housing kids in boosters’ homes. cmon dawg we all know whats going on. The local LH plays hard then gets bumped his jr or sr year to a transfer. Yeah LH is soo great hahaha. You don’t brag about league because your league is weaker than del rio.
What the hell are you talking about??? LS had very little transfers…and if they did would you blame them?
Jake George WR (Del Rio MVP, SGVN All Area co player of the year, All CIF Division 4 Off player of the year, All State) lives very close to LS
Jake Long QB First team All league, All CIF
Owen Long RB/DB First Team All League, All CIF
Jess Gonzales OL First Team All League, ALL CIF
Chase Bernal LB All League, ALL CIF
Max Dressen LB All League
etc. etc. etc….
ALL LIVE IN THE LS BOUNDARY!!!
Who are the transfer’s you are talking about?
@LS CLOWN
your in the same situation as LA HABRA but guess what… we don’t glorify a league title LOL… we want RINGS… how about yall level up already, play LH stop running.
WE ASK TO GET OUT OF OUR LEAGUE , YALL SEEM TO ENJOY PLAYING DOWN.
YALL ACTING LIKE A BULLY, COME PLAY SOMEONE OF EQUAL TALENT
TheRanch18 said it perfect and he should have listened to me when I said bring his boy to LH.
LS pre-season schedule is WEAK (someone else can verify) you are playing schools in LOWER DIVISIONS than what you actually play… LOL.. no wonder you cant get a RING! lol…
I see some of yall LS folks , make the jump to LH and stop wasting time playing weak comp!
WE GOT KIDS GOING TO COLLEGE EVERY YEAR, ring or not…
LS keep your league patches LMFAO
Glendora is in the same geographic proximity as Azusa. It’s even pretty close to all of the Covina Valley schools. But they’re not in the same league because it wouldn’t make any sense.
Rancho Cucamonga is in the same school district as Ontario and Montclair. But they’re not in the same league because it doesn’t make any sense.
La Serna, Monrovia, and La Habra are all benefiting from an old way of thinking. They need to be releagued. This is also why these schools are able to load up on a strong nonleague schedule because they know they won’t be challenged in league. The smart teams who have to fight for a 2nd place spot do not schedule crazy because it wouldn’t make sense for them to do so. Let’s say Sunny Hills, El Rancho, or La Canada loaded up on an impossibly tough pre-season schedule and went 1-5 or 2-4. There is no guarantee that Sunny Hills will beat Fullerton and Troy, there is no guarantee that El Rancho will beat Cal or Whittier, and there’s no guarantee that La Canada is beating South Pasadena or San Marino. However, it is almost guaranteed that each of them will lose to La Habra, La Serna, and Monrovia in league play. If they schedule too tough of a non-league schedule, they’re hope for an at-large bid becomes nearly impossible.
Meanwhile, La Serna, Monrovia, and La Habra all know they’ll win their league before the spring practice even starts. So sure, it makes sense for them to load up on a tough non-league schedule, lose some games and get challenged because they know they won’t be challenged in league.
Schools like Glendora, Rancho Cucamonga, Bonita, La Serna, La Habra, etc. are in an advantageous situation because they are in geographically desirable areas in comparison to their nearby schools. That’s not to take away from the work those coaches, players and communities do, but one simply can’t ignore that advantage.
@Ranch18 why are you always crying? Poor me, we cant fill a freshmen team. Why don’t you stop crying and build a good program? Start from the bottom and get kids to buy in? LS wasn’t always good but they turn it around. I remember Cal was building a good football program and they fired the coach back in early 2000s. ER needs new coaches and any decent area pop warner kid heads to Amat or St Paul. Start scheduling a tougher preseason it will make your team better during league. Don’t get it twisted 🙂
Politics and $. When the district magically accommodates open enrollment so you can take all the best kids from the Whittier, Cal, Pioneer, Santa Fe High and Friendly hills area along with some portions of LM, LH and Norwalk you are essentially just a glorified all star team manufactured by WUHSD. I can start name dropping but that would be too much of a jerk move so I’ll leave it as is. Yes congrats LS for the success they’ve had, but let’s not act like they haven’t been given every possible advantage to achieve that success. Ranch18 is correct, LS has 120+ kids in their program all 3 levels full, the rest of the schools are lucky to have 75. These aren’t excuses or complaints, this is just reality, if you can combine Cal, ER, SF and Pioneer maybe you can challenge LS, until that changes no one will beat LS in the DRL, it’s simply not setup for it.
LS the class of the League ? c’mon get real lol…. LS is a big fish in a little pond
no other team in our league has the numbers LS does… you guys can fill FRESHMAN , JV, VARSITY and have very minimum players go BOTH WAYS….
everyone else is struggling to even have a FRESHMAN TEAM, not even thinking about having a JV team LOL…
Del rio League has ALOT of solid kids, and would make one BADA$$ all star team lol… but lets be realistic, LS Holds more cards. “it is what it is”
but dont get it twisted!
CAL , Whittier, SF, and especially THE RANCH has no problem throwing everything we got at LS! lol
Santa Fe Dominated back in the Day for MANY years, but once coach m left… so did the recruiting lol… and lets be honest… LS is the king of recruiting right now… idk why you guys drive so far in the OC to play Tesoro when you have much better competition in La Habra NEXT DOOR.
Glad to hear we stay in your head, dont choke on the huevos guey!
La Serna is the class of the league and it’ll be that way for a while. Any kid that can play ball in that area needs to go to La Serna.
How did El Monte jump on this thread? Lol. From champs to chumps. From Transfer Express to Transfer Out Express. They better hire someone good if they intend to be relevant. If they don’t they’ll be Mountain View again.
warren will not be the same team, thats just wishful thinking hahahaha
LS will beat warren bad, warren is better off scheduling pioneer
they wont be playing after this contract is up
Warren will have another QB, the staff their will recruit as many people as possible. Prayers to the families of those kids who were involved in that horrible accident.
This is a pretty tough schedule. Damien is a pretty good team despite their 2021 record being sub .500. They blew out St. Francis early in the season and St. Francis handled LS pretty well in the semis.
Pasadena was overrated in 2021, but they’ll be better in 22.
Solid schedule.
Tesoro had a good JV team and narrowly beat LS – expect it to be a much different game in 2022.
Twitter says Rosemead or EM will hire Spathias from Bassett. Depends on staffing. It’s hard to believe that these two schools can’t find a coach. Football openings seem to be the norm now.
monster schedule ? 30-33 lol
little monster (rahhh) hahahaha
Pasadena- L maybe they can pull a W… pending who Pasadena has at QB
Warren- W Bears are becoming transfer OUT express… team will be swiss cheese this season
Los Osos- W. Blowout- waterdown not the same Los Osos
Tesoro- W. BLOWOUT This ain’t your old man’s Tesoro
Damien- L – repeat of WARREN last year, BLOWOUT .
Culver City- W/L close game
its nice to see a local sgv team go out and play teams from out the area, but i wouldnt say its a MONSTER schedule,
good schedule to get them ready for the little Ol Del Rio League LOL
One of the best, if not thee best team in the SGV. 9-1 with a trip to the Division 3 playoffs. LS has a history of blowing out some teams who appear to be on the same level as them. They don’t even bother putting up their league schedule because that’s already a forgone conclusion. Maybe it’s time for them to find a new league. Same can be said for Monrovia and La Habra.
Pasadena- W. More lopsided than expected
Warren- L. Bears are becoming transfer express
Los Osos- W. Blowout
Tesoro- W. This ain’t your old man’s Tesoro
Damien- W in an epic game.

EM offering guys that are already HCs or were old coaches but nope
Man what’s going on at El Monte? Seems like those in charge aren’t really in charge? Who’s the wizard behind the curtain? SAD for the kids of EM.
Los Altos doesn’t have a coach… What’s going on there????
Anyone know who they are hiring at EL Monte or Rosemead for Football this year. Time is ticking…….
I think they will shock warren. Heard QB transferred out?
