@ Question Mark: I guess the ticket prices for Oakland A’s games have to be high in order to compensate for: 1) the small average number of fans who attend; 2) the fact that John Fisher is not the wealthiest major league owner; and 3) the high cost of virtually everything in the San Francisco Bay area.
It appears that O.Co Coliseum has lost a lot of its notoriety with the departure of the “Black Hole” crowd. Those interesting people can now be found at Raider games in Las Vegas (or in L.A. when the Raiders come in to play the Chargers).

You gotta go RV at least once. That stadium with 5,000 fans most of them let in free or sneaked in is a sight to behold. Then the constant drum beating echoing through the empty cavern will drive you crazy. One other factoid is their ticket prices seem to be the highest in MLB. Go figure

@ Question Mark: O.Co Coliseum! Yeah.
Of course, it was originally known as the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum. I’ve never been in it, although I’ve driven by the place a couple of times. Based on what I’ve read about it, its condition is probably similar to what the L.A. Coliseum was like before USC took over and got it renovated.

The AFL teams officially joined the National Football League prior to the 1970 season, even though the merger deal was reached back in ’66. The first Super Bowl was played in early 1967 between the respective league champions, the Green Bay Packers of the NFL and the Kansas City Chiefs of the AFL.
Daryle Lamonica and the Raiders met the Packers in Super Bowl II, which was played in early 1968, following the conclusion of the 1967 regular season.

Everyone should go to Oakland stadium just once. Take the Bart from SF, walk in a cage from the Bart to the stadium, then enter a mausoleum. Foul territory is larger than fair territory. The ride back after a night game is like being an actor in a slasher film. PS don’t wear any Dodger or Angel gear.

#9 : Was Lamonica the NFL MVP or the AFL MVP in 1967?
From T. Peterson: AFL MVP. Thanks.
