- The attendance at the USC Spring game Saturday was 33,247, the largest since USC started keeping track.
- The Chicago Cubs beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 21-0 Saturday which is the largest shutout victory in franchise history (since at least 1901).
- Miguel Cabrera of the Detroit Tigers recorded his 3000th career hit in a 3-2 loss to the Colorado Rockies Saturday. Cabrera is the 33rd player in MLB history to reach that milestone.
- The Dodgers beat the San Diego Padres 10-2 Sunday to take 2 out of 3 in the series in San Diego.
- Montreal Canadiens legend, Guy Lafleur, passed away at the age of 70. Lafleur won five Stanley Cup titles with Montreal.

- Duke freshman AJ Griffin has declared for the NBA draft. Griffin is the fifth Blue Devils player in the last week to declare.
- The Denver Nuggets beat the Golden State Warriors 126-121 Sunday to avoid a sweep. The Warriors still lead the first round Western Conference playoff series 3-1.
- The Dodgers, at 11-4, have the best record in baseball through the first 15 games.
- UCLA point guard Tyger Campbell is returning to the Bruins next season.
