Johnson Resigns at Temple City

(Temple City)- Laron Johnson has stepped down as the head football coach at Temple City after just one season he confirmed Tuesday.

Johnson cited other options for job opportunities as the main reason for his resignation. The Rams went 0-10 last year in Johnson’s only season as head coach.

Temple City will begin the search for new head coach immediately. The season kicks off August 19.

I have to agree. I have been coaching for 30 years all over the sgv and as of yet never finished a full season. I lose interest usually during mid season and step away. But…the next season I’m in demand all over the place. Im already losing interest in the school I’am coaching at now. Too many prima-donnas. Maybe I will go to TC and be their HC.

@ T Peterson: I should have clarified my statement to say that Johnson will not land a HEAD coaching gig ever again, at least not within a 100-mile radius of Temple City. Assistant jobs are plentiful for virtually anyone with a face, due to the pitiful pay and long hours. My dog has “6 or 7” offers for such employment.

If he has numerous offers that clearly shows the insidious nature of hirings in the SGV that has led to the free fall in quality of programs .

He might be a great guy , but 0-10 , embarrassed in virtually every game and then leaves team and school in the lurch at last minute for the upcoming season. This is the resume and behavior that gives you a better job ????

    No wonder ……:

The atrocious timing of this resignation guarantees that Johnson will never coach high school football again. Let’s hope that TC can rally from the depths of this disgrace and make a decent showing in the fall.
From T. Peterson: He’ll land somewhere in the next two weeks. He already has 6 or 7 offers.

That’s true at schools that don’t value athletics. It’s almost like there’s no middle class. Kids are doing like NBA players and going to once place to try to build super teams. That leaves the crappy schools even crappier.

The gap between haves and have nots widening by the moment . Gap is reinforced by administrations that are either dysfunctional or don’t value football.
In general not that much fun to be one of the have nots through a season of losses and physical mismatches ….. takes great spirit to fight through that , especially if coach doesn’t feel supported by school .
So yeah more and more like youth football every day

Happens every year, last year at El Monte the same happened. Hopefully an assistant can take over to make things seamless as possible.
