To be a long term coach in one spot you have to produce. The ones that come to mind are the Farrars at Charter Oak but though thru death of big Lou the son only has 2 years. Others locally not to many come to mind. Perez at Northview about 13 seasons, George and Medrano both starting their 8th in the Del Rio, Holman at SD as well and if you want to reach a bit Mazzota at La Habra seems like there forever. I’m sure Im missing a some. Help me out.
@Coach R,
I never said I knew how to build a program and I definitely don’t know more than coaches in the valley. All I asked was how many of them have been at a place for more than 5 years.
@FBFan
What have you done. The problem with you is you think you know more than these coaches in the valley, you have no idea what it takes to build a program. POS.
@FB fan, it’s ridiculous! I have no idea why these guys are self promoting and lying their way into programs. What these clowns don’t seem to understand is we’re doing it for the kids, building young men with integrity, hard work, and dedication. No one cares about how “Great” you are as a high school coach and non of you are advancing to the college ranks because you win league lol.
Know you’re role and stay in your lane, coach up the kids because they’re all that matters. Not you! Too many coaches in it for the wrong reasons (self gratification)
How many of the hustlers/self-promoters stayed at one place for more than 5 years?
They can, but they don’t need snakes like that continuously infiltrating these schools, it’s like making a deal with the devil.
I totally agree with you Ron, but can’t Keppel be strong in academics and competitive in football at the same time?
@ NWO: Yes, the Aztecs need some type of departure from their current state, but not that particular kind. The football recruiting hoopla, social media antics, and potential forfeiture of multiple games wouldn’t be a great look for the academic flagship of the Alhambra Unified School District.
Ron, Keppel needs some kind departure from the norm they have grown accustomed to. Anything.
@ Anonymous: I would never believe anything like that until I see an official announcement. I’m well-acquainted with the administrators at Mark Keppel High School, and that sort of coaching hire would be a radical departure for them, to put it mildly.
I’d like to see the Aztecs do better in football, but I don’t think they’re looking for the flamboyance, self-promotion, and drama that Matt would bring. This must be an early April Fools’ joke.

Matt V is the new man at the helm for the Keppel Aztecs.
Who’s the coach at keppel
