In the Spring football game the Defense is given 24 points to start the game and the Offense needs to overcome that deficit to win. The Defense can score points with stops and turnovers. The Offense got close Saturday but was hurt by turnovers and was ultimately unable to get over the hump.

Caleb Williams hit Mario Williams for a 10-yard touchdown on the first offensive possession.

On the second series Dennis Lynch booted a 45-yard field goal to make it 24-10 Defense.

Miller Moss, who replaced Williams, was picked off in the endzone to give the Defense 3 points.

Freshman Quinten Joyner broke loose for a 26-yard touchdown scamper with 55 seconds left in the first half.

The Defense took a 30-17 lead into the half.

Max Williams recovered a fumble early in the second half to make it 33-17 and Christian Pierce intercepted a pass with 10:19 left to make it 39-17.

A’Marion Peterson and Matt Colombo scored on touchdown runs later in the second half for the Offense but Jacobi Covington picked off a pass in the endzone as the clock ran out to seal a 42-34 win for the Defense.

Caleb Williams, the Heisman Trophy winning quarterback from last year, only played the opening series. Sophomore Miller Moss and Freshman Malachi Nelson also saw action.
