    @LSHS,

    La Serna has the luxury- as does Long Beach Poly, La Habra, Monrovia and a few others- to have a tough pre-league schedule and not worry about it negatively effecting them for the playoffs because they are in such a weak league in comparison to their level of play.

    I don’t have a dog in the fight but this stuff is too obvious not to see.

    FBfan – I dont know how it works exactly but i would love to see them in a league with better comp. But its not like they play a weak pre season. I see it as a solid to tough pre season they work in league and are 100% for playoffs.

    ? – again i dont know education wise i would think number wise LS maybe better but even if its the same or Pioneer a little better why not get the same education and win alot instead of losing?

    @LSHS: Exactly why would a kid get a great education at La Serna High as opposed to say Pioneer High.?

    @ Please: Tell that to all the high school students who pass Advanced Placement exams in subjects such as physics, chemistry, biology, trigonometry, calculus, psychology, and economics.
    Are there issues with public education? Yes. However, the situation is not nearly as bad as you say it is.
    By the way, some school districts perform better than others, and for a variety of reasons.

    Your points are true. All the more reason they should find a different league. No one is coming close to them in every sport.

    And before the “get better” sentiments, It’d be like El Rancho or Cal being in a league with Basset, La Puente, and Workman. Should those schools just “get better” when they’re competing with teams out of their league?

    Can we stop with all the talk about high schools giving anybody a “great education?” Nobody gets out of any of these places with the training to earn more than minimum wage.

    A lot of people talk about La Serna but they compete in everything. Yes, they got bumped out in the first round in football but we all know they were a division too high. Basketball played for a title and went onto the state championship tournament and now with baseball they are in the quarterfinals. That’s not to mention they won title in water polo and diving and league titles in other sports as well. Besides all of that they are going to go and get a great education at the school.
