  1. The Lakers beat the Golden State Warriors 104-101 Monday night to take a 3-1 lead in the Western Conference Semi-Finals. 
  2. The Philadelphia 76ers took a 3-2 Eastern Conference Semi-Finals series lead with a 115-103 win over the Boston Celtics Tuesday night. 
  3. Hall of Fame College Basketball coach Denny Crum, who led Louisville to national championships in 1980 and 1986, passed away Tuesday at the age of 86. 
  4. The Denver Nuggets beat the Phoenix Suns 118-102 Tuesday night to take a 3-2 lead in the Western Conference Semi-Finals. 
  5. The Ganesha baseball team beat Coachella Valley 17-0 Tuesday in the CIF Division 7 playoffs and the Ganesha softball team beat Citrus Hill 17-0 Tuesday in the CIF Division 7 playoffs. 
  6. Former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Joe Kapp, who led the team into Super IV where they lost to the Kansas City Chiefs 23-7, passed away Tuesday at the age of 85. 
  7. Oakland A’s rookie Jordan Diaz hit three home runs in a 10-5 loss to the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium Tuesday night. 
  8. The A’s have the worst record in baseball at 8-29. 
  9. On this day in 1973 the New York Knicks beat the Lakers 102-93 at the Forum in Inglewood to win the NBA Championship in five games. 
  10. “They say football is America’s greatest game, but it’s not. The greatest game in America is called opportunity. Football is merely a great expression of it.”-Joe Kapp.

    Opportunity is directly proportional to how fairly the rules are applied to everyone, which was the hallmark of American justice for over two hundred years. That’s an honor the USA can no longer claim, but sports still stand as a reminder of that principle.
