(Hacienda Heights) – San Dimas dominated from start to finish and shut out Los Altos 29-0 Friday night in a Valle Vista League contest. The win left the Saints in a three-way tie for first in the Valle Vista but by virtue of a coin flip San Dimas goes into the playoffs as the number one team.

San Dimas took control of the game right away eating up the clock while also eating up yardage on the ground. On the opening possession the Saints drove 89 yards on 15 plays behind the running of Caleb Morquecho and Brian Jackson. Nathaniel Almaraz capped the nearly nine-minute march with a four-yard touchdown run with 3:10 left in the first quarter.

Late in the second quarter on another time-consuming march the Saints took to the air to get in the endzone. Brandon Meredith threw a 27-yard strike to Julian Vigil who hauled it in as he crossed the goal line for a 14-0 lead.

On the next possession the defense got into the act. Los Altos moved the ball down to the San Dimas seven-yard line. But on the next snap quarterback Andrew Silva fumbled and Alex Torres scooped it up raced 90 yards the other way for a touchdown. Donavan Morrison ran in the two-point conversion and with less than a minute left in the first half the Saints were up 22-0. They took that lead into the break.

In the third quarter San Dimas, as was the MO all night, went on another prolonged march going 63 yards on 16 plays. Brian Jackson went the last four for the final score of the night with 1:30 left in the third.

Los Altos only had three possessions on the second half and went punt, punt, interception. Roque Dominguez picked off a pass for one of three Conqueror turnovers. Torres also recovered another fumble on the last Los Altos series in the first half.

Morquecho led the San Dimas ground attack with 105 yards in 25 carries. Jackson ran for 60 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries as the Saints had over 200 yards on the ground.

“We are fully focused and playing unselfish football right now,” said San Dimas head coach Mark Holman.

Meredith completed 6 of 11 for 65 yards and a touchdown.

San Dimas finished the regular season 6-4 overall and 2-1 in the Valle Vista. Los Altos went 5-5 and 0-3 in league.

The Saints now wait for Sunday to find out what awaits them in the CIF playoffs.
