Apaches Fall Short to Serra

(Arcadia) – Arcadia played Serra even in three of the four quarters but were outscored by eight points in the second quarter and fell 63-55 Tuesday night in the CIF Division 3AA Quarter Finals.

Arcadia and Serra were tied at 12 after the first period and each team scored 15 points in the third quarter and 20 in the fourth. But Serra outscored the Apaches 16-8 in the second quarter and made it stand up to advance to the Semi Finals.

Mansour Sanneh kept Arcadia in the hunt with 20 points in the game including 16 in the second half. Mansour threw down a rim ratting jam in the fourth quarter and scored 12 points on the fourth but the Apaches couldn’t get over the hump.

Kaleb Kearse and Maximo Adams combined for 46 of Serra’s 63 points as they each scored 23. Kearse was able to consistently get to the rim as he either scored or got to the free throw line. He also hit a couple of threes. Kearse scored 20 of his 23 points in the second half.

Adams did most of his work inside overpowering the Apaches in the paint. He had 19 of his 23 in the second half and hit seven of eight free throws in the fourth quarter to close out the game. Jeremiah Wilson added 10 for Serra.

Jordan Dollar joined Sanneh in double figures for Arcadia with 10 points. He hit a pair of threes and was four of six from the charity stripe. Jayden Price scored nine and Bryan Ching added eight.

Serra went on a 7-2 run to open the second quarter to spark the eight-point advantage which eventually tuned into an eight-point win.

Arcadia finishes the season with an overall record of 21-10 while Serra moves on to the Semis.
