  1. The Dodgers acquired pitcher Jack Flaherty from the Detroit Tigers Tuesday for minor league catcher Thayron Liranzo and minor league shortstop Trey Sweeney. 
  2. The Dodgers blew a 5-0 lead and lost to the Padres 6-5 in 10 innings Tuesday night in San Diego.  
  3. The U.S. Women’s gymnastics team, led by Simone Biles, won the gold medal at the Paris Olympics.
  4. The Chicago Bears signed wide receiver DJ Moore to a four-year, $110 million extension. 
  5. The Dodgers also acquired right-hander Michael Kopech and utility man Tommy Edman in exchange for three players including infielder Miguel Vargas in a three-team trade with the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago White Sox. 
  6. Prominent youth Southern California sports coach Chris “Coach Frog” Flores was convicted on seven charges of molestation and sexual assault Tuesday in Orange County. Flores, who worked with several high-profile athletes in Southern California, was a coach at STARS Prep Academy in Santa Ana. 
  7. The Padres acquired reliever Tanner Scott from the Miami Marlins for three prospects. 
  8. Eugenio Suarez hit three homeruns Tuesday night in the Arizona Diamondbacks 17-0 win over the Washington Nationals. 
  9. USC football officially opens camp Friday August 2. 
  10. The Angels said Tuesday that they are shutting down the rehab for Mike Trout after a recent setback in his recovery from meniscus surgery.
