Is FanView back like Notre Dame football is back? Or is Holmes not ready to jump off the porch yet? Just wondering.
It’s the first Going Gonzo post of the year, and there is a look forward to it in the world of sports. And yes, I already jumped off the porch years ago.
You’re not missing much if you haven’t been keeping up with the College Football Playoff and how terrible the games have been. Of the eight playoff games of the new expanded 12-team format, the only game that kept me interested was Texas versus Arizona St., which ended with a 39-31 double overtime score.
The three other quarterfinal games were over before the halftime show. We must remember that this is the first year of the new format, so there will be flaws in the system and apparent tweaks will be made in no time.
They must fix the overall seeding. The system must find a better way to determine the top four seeds. Not having Notre Dame be eligible for a top-four seed because they are not in a conference is absurd. But when the format jumps from 12 to 16 teams, the matchups should be better. Fingers crossed.
The one thing that I do like to see is that Notre Dame football looks to be back into relevance and that there’s only one SEC team in the final four. It’s about time that NIL money went out to other schools.
My hopes for a Notre Dame versus Texas matchup are still in the works. I got Notre Dame.
Wouldn’t a Detroit Lions and Buffalo Bills Super Bowl matchup break a viewership record? Nobody outside of Missouri wants the Chiefs to go for a three-peat. They’re the modern-day New England Patriots, and we are bored of them.
It doesn’t matter who plays in the Super Bowl this year; I will still watch it. I want another team to play for the Lombardi.
Now that January is here, only a handful of NFL and college football games are left to enjoy. Once that ends, we are left with the NBA. Yikes.
That’s where I’m going.
P.S.
This one is for you, Coach.
Always appreciate a good Going Gonzo. Keep up the great work Alex.
