Chino Tabs Arellano

(Chino) – Chino has named Alex Arellano III as the new head football coach. Arellano, a Chino alum who played for the school, was most recently an assistant coach at the University of La Verne where he coached wide receivers.

Arellano takes over for Joey LaRosa who resigned last month after six years at the helm.

Last year the Cowboys went 5-7 overall and 4-1 in the Hacienda League. They advanced to the second round of the CIF Division 10 Playoffs before falling to Silverado.

“I feel extremely honored to lead a program built on tradition. Chino football has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember—my grandfather was a Chino legend, serving as the team’s equipment manager for 42 years, and I grew up as a ball boy for Hall of Fame coach John Monger’s teams,” Arellano said. “This program means a lot to me. Aside from that, I was set to be the OC for Joey La Rosa this upcoming season because I have a ton of respect for the job he did. I had other head coaching opportunities, but ultimately, it was about finding the right fit. Being born and raised in Chino, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to lead this program. It’s truly a dream job for me.”
